No queda completamente aislado. Lo he comprado para un aire acondicionado portátil porque mi marido había echo uno con aglomerado pensé que este iba a quedar cerrado herméticamente y me equivoqué, entra y sale la calor, pero sí que es bastante comodo

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible instructions + wrong size + flimsy

The installation instructions are awful and it's the wrong size.

Starting with, the circular adapter is 1/4 inch too small for my hose. WTF??? So either this thing is the wrong size, or this is a ridiculous industry that doesn't have standard sizes. If the latter, this product should offer multiple sizes of adapters to you can get the right one.

Next, it's too big for my window (and its not like a super small window, so I didn't think to measure). This is another design flaw of this product. It comes with 3 panels, supposedly so that you can make it fit. But all 3 panels are the same size!! Why couldn't they make one panel smaller, to give you some flexibility? Or even throw in a 4th panel, to really give you options. As is, a single panel leaves me with like a 6" gap and two panels is 4" too big. Gggrrrrr....

Next, the instructions. OMG I don't think they could be any worse. The drawings are awful. You can't tell what the heck is going on. Fortunately they include a video which is a lot better, but still not great.

Finally, it's pretty flimsy. I can't imagine it lasting more than a season or 2. And at 50 bucks, that's way too much to have to replace every year.

So 45 minutes and a half a roll of strapping tape later, I made it work. But I'm really unhappy.

I used this to thread my 2016 Mitsubishi i-MIEV electric vehicle charging cord through to an interior outlet. It reduces air transfer from outside. For extra insulation, I stuff some AmazonBasics microfiber cloths around and in any exposed areas where air is seeping in. I do not want any electrical issues. I just pull my car in extremely close to my home, thread in the cord through this vent kit, plug it in an interior outlet and I'm good. This product works extremely well for my needs. It was really easy to install. It secured in place nicely. I did not have any worry that it was going to break under pressure, have my window slam shut and subsequently a crunched cord. This is a good product. I highly recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars gulrear Portable Air Conditioner Window Vent Kit - Not for tall or wide openings.

The description of this item says it will expand to fit a 59" window opening. NOT TRUE. My window opening is 58 " and the insert was almost 3" to short. And, if it is expanded the full length, it is not sturdy and could be easily knocked out of the window. We cut a piece of wood and wedged it in the top to try and make it work. After a very short time the vent hose fell off of the hose attachment piece. We used packing tape and taped the hose to the plastic piece. Needless to say, the whole thing looks very ugly. The AC works great so we will now be making a piece to replace this mess. That being said, if you have a small opening, 45" or less, it will probably work pretty good. You will need a hose clamp to keep the venting tube attached to the plastic piece.

How do portable air conditioners work with a window?

They have a single hose, usually installed through a window or even through a wall. That hose only has one purpose: to serve as an exhaust vent for the hot air. In essence, the single-hose portable air conditioner sucks in the hot room air and vents it outdoors via a single hose.

Do all portable air conditioners need a window kit?

These AC units are like self-contained heat pumps: They collect heat from a room and send it somewhere else through an exhaust vent. But portable ACs don't need to vent out a window, so long as you can find another way to send the heat outside.

Do you need to take the screen out of the window for a portable air conditioner?

Portable air conditioner models should be placed on the floor, not installed through the window, so there is no need to remove your screen.
