Business seats were poor. Horrible design, couldn’t swap between sleep and sit modes without crew rebuilding seat. Lacks privacy. Can’t look out windows. Lack of storage. Movie list was rather limited. Safety brief was looong and unnecessarily packed with cringe story telling, Other than that it was Ok. Food was good for airline food.

Once I was on the plain it was excellent When I checked I. I didn’t think it is Proffesional to call someone’s name on the intercom and change their seats without even letting them know why ! I could not check in online - WHY we live in a first world country . I couldn’t pick my seat - also why? Train your staff to ASKED customers if it is ok to change their seats just before a flight. It was dishonest to ask my passport , take my boarding pass and print a new one and hoping I wouldn’t see . When I saw what is busy to happen I was VERY upset. I said “ Are you changing my seat number?” Only then they said yes . What’s up with that . If it wasn’t for the experience and incident I would have give AIR New Zealand a 5 star rating . But now I have to warn my American friend to reconsider flying Air NZ .

Cons: "$120 to check my 12kg bag! I was outraged! Was sold a ticket that included nothing but a seat and virgin and air new Zealand were not helpful. Kayak should have been more transparent about this exhorbitant fee! I plan to raise a stink when I get back to the states. Was shocked and had no other choose but to pay!"

Cons: "My ticket did not say that it was a no luggage,no meal ticket & I printed off the E ticket & no where on the E ticket did it state no luggage.....I think that needs to be shown clearly when we book. I had to pay for 1 bag & it would have been $250 but ANZ did work with me &changed the ticket for $125 name-Marjorie Kalama"

Cons: "Staff not incredibly nice but OK. The thing that bothered me most is that if you book through KAYAK that sends you to Virgin Australia, you can’t book bag, nor buy a meal if you want. I didn’t want to meal but I did want a bag and it’s a big difference. If you do it online it’s 39 Australian dollars, but if you do it at the airport it’s AU$160. That’s just outrageous and the staff was not helpful at all"

Pros: "We fly a lot and have flown American, European, Asian airlines but this has to be the best experienxe ever. First, their checkin is all automated, even baggage. That makes the lines really short. Their staff standing by to help at every moment. When we used another airline in Australia Jetstar, we waited in line for one hour and then were scolded for being late! We even had to pay for our water and the staff took turn scolding us over our overhead bin stuff. Boarding of NZ airline was so comfortable, without pushing or crowds. Staff always welcoming you with a smile. Seats are wide and we were given free drinks, free headohones, and wait for it.... free dinner! And all served so politey and in the most gracious manner as if we were their guests. We were so taken back by their service and this was the aecond time we have flown with them in 10 days. My young daughter thought may be their staff gets paid more so they seem to be so much more happy. I also think that there is something when you dehumanize your customers by charging them for water and being uncaring to their needs. The staff also starts to treat the customers as cattle. Besides Southwest Airlines, I havent come across one another airline where the staff treat their custmoers with reapect while charging them for water. So airlines, take note. I would pay $50 per ticket extra just to be in NZ airline."

Pros: "My husbands booking was not processed correctly from the site we booked through, and we didn't notice the mistake until we were checking in. We were at the airport at least 2 1/2 hours before boarding time. The mistake could have been rectified, we were told it would need an email from Virgin to confirm and change the booking. We photographed and sent through passport details. We phoned the booing site, we phoned Virgin, we were put on hold for 25 mins while the booking site phoned Virgin - but Virgin refused to help us out! My husband was not able to board the flight - no refund, no help - and the sad part was, it wasn't for a holiday - it was to visit and help his 87yr old father-in-law who had fallen and cracked his spine. No sympathy from Virgin, VERY DISAPPOINTED!"

Cons: "Flight cancelled, then booked by Virgin without consultation, onto a flight via Sydney that would take 6 1/2 hrs to get there, had to request another flight but still lost most of the day of my holiday, plus left with many phone calls re change of rental car, arrival , parking bookings, and no compensation and then stress when I got to the airport and was told that despite being "booked " on the much later flight, now I might not actually have a seat. I had to wait while attendant at counter tried to find seats and only watch as they were taken by someone else several times. So unnecessarily stressful and misleading. Lost my original seats, had to sit separate from my companion, and no real concern by Virgin about their impact on customers' plans. Last time I flew, the plane was cancelled, and we had to wait hours for another one in the terminal, so I missed the body corporate meeting that was the ONLY reason I was flying to Brisbane, paying for overnight accommodation and car rental and flight and I MISSED it. Huge cost for NOTHING, as despite driving straight to the meeting, it was just finishing. Whilst at the airport trying to fly home, I heard another Virgin flight cancelled , again due to "unscheduled maintenance". Seems that maintenance and mechanical problems are common and way more common than they should be. So that is a big worry!"

Cons: "I didn't like seeing the build up of food and small rubbish in the seat tracks in front of me on both trips, there and back. It was revolting. Clearly the company vacuuming the carpet doesn't bother doing the job properly and doesn't take the time to look from the window seat position. Shocking indeed."

Cons: "I was unable to check in online and arrived in Melbourne 3 hours in advance of my flight. I had to stand in line for over an hour just to check in for my flight. It was a complete mess at the check in desk. There were several issues with other passengers that caused two gate agents to be tied up for upper 30 minutes. Rather than taking them to customer service they continued to block the line. Then with Economy gates being down to only 3 (with my guess at over 100 people waiting to check in) one of the agents used the economy line to service business class pasangers, when there were already 3 agents serving the business class patrons. While I understand business entitles you to special priorities but to have your economy passengers (who are all paying over $1500 a ticket) to have to wait so long for business passages to all walk straight get up can waiting 5 minutes felt very wrong and made many people upset. My family was waiting to see me off and subsequently got charges $30 in parking due to the delay in check in. Also communication at the gate was very poor. check-in at sydney was a bit disorganized. one well-dressed woman appeared to be in charge, staring at others who were not ready and checking in passengers. one person at business class check-in, was sarcastic and only mentioned the gate assignment, no bother to mention the lounge access etc... the crew on board was stellar. so polite, helpful and respectful. the meals were great, endless beverages, and the a350 is spectacular with the seat/bed, amenity kit, television, bedding, headphones. first time flying fiji airways- honolulu- fiji-sydney, and sydney-fiji-los angeles, all in business class. their fares are much more affordable than other carriers. hopefully, one day, they will use a widebody aircraft from honolulu- fiji, since it is a nearly 7-hour flight and the 737-max 8, although comfortable, would be better with a widebody plane.

When I checkin from Sydney to los angles, the Fiji manager said you have to pay for stroller. I said I came all the way from Los Angeles to Sydney like that and I even showed the tags too, Christopher said Sydney has different policy. I left the stroller to him and Saud to him keep it for your kids and came back home without baby stroller."
