How is Wilson responsible for Gatsbys death

George Wilson pulled the trigger that ended Gatsby’s life, but all of the blame should not be placed on George. Gatsby’s death resulted from a chain of many events that all contributed to his demise. The death could be traced back to Daisy Buchanan, Myrtle Wilson, Tom Buchanan, or Gatsby himself. The main events that contributed to Gatsby’s death were Myrtle and Tom’s affair, Gatsby’s obsession and affair with Daisy, Myrtle's death, and George Wilson eventually shooting Gatsby. These events all have different causes and effects, but I believe only one person should take the responsibility for Gatsby’s death.

The first event that contributed to Gatsby’s death was Myrtle and Tom’s affair. Tom decided to cheat on Daisy and have an affair with

This death was very odd because Myrtle was the one who ran into the street, yet everyone put the blame on the driver for killing Myrtle. No one knew who the driver of the car was that struck her, but Myrtle thought that Tom was driving the car and she was hoping that he would stop to visit her. It was actually Gatsby’s car that killed her, but Daisy was driving. Most of the characters in this book could take responsibility for this accident, Tom caused Myrtle to run into the road, but Myrtle should have known better, also Gatsby should not have had the heated argument with Tom which caused Daisy to drive home erratically and to show no remorse after killing a woman. Daisy did not even stop after hitting Myrtle which infuriated George and caused George to seek revenge on whoever murdered his wife. Daisy allowed Tom to continue his affair with Myrtle which caused her to run into the street where Daisy hit her and drove off. These actions directly triggered George to hunt down the murder of his wife, so if Daisy would have driven more carefully and stopped after hitting Myrtle then maybe that would have saved Gatsby’s …show more content…
Unfortunately no one interferes so Gatsby was killed and only one person should take the blame for his death. Based upon research and analyzing the situation Gatsby is the one at fault for his own death. It was his life that was taken and he had the most opportunities to prevent his death. Initially this entire situation could have been avoided had it not been for Gatsby’s obsession with Daisy. Although her marriage was not the happiest she had not seen or interacted with Gatsby for five years, and she had probably lost most of her emotions for Gatsby. Five years is too long to suddenly try and re-enter someone’s life, especially if they are married, so Gatsby should have moved on and avoided the whole situation. Whenever Daisy murdered Myrtle he should have taken some initiative and cleared his name instead of waiting for his unknown punishment. Gatsby probably did not expect to be shot, but he had to have assumed someone would figure out it was his car that killed Myrtle. If Gatsby went to George and told him the truth then he definitely would have survived. Tom’s affair with Myrtle, Gatsby’s affair with Daisy, and Myrtle's death all contributed to George Wilson shooting Gatsby, but Gatsby is the one who had the most control over the situation so he is the one at fault for his own

Who Dies in The Great Gatsby

What would you do if someone killed someone you loved? Myrtle Wilson is causing a major uprise in multiple deaths. Although the deaths are not all Myrtle’s fault. Myrtle has jumped in front of the car that Daisy Buchanan. Thus causing Daisy to be blamed for Myrtle’s death. Tom Buchanan is to blame for Jay Gatsby’s death. Tom has told George that Gatsby’s car is the same car that hit Myrtle. George is sure that Gatsby killed Myrtle, so George shot Jay Gatsby. No one else can blame anyone for George’s death but himself.

The person responsible for Myrtle Wilson’s death is Daisy Buchanan. Daisy is responsible for driving a car that hit Myrtle Wilson on the side of the road. Daisy is driving when Myrtle Wilson jumped out in front of Daisy for help. Witnesses say that a person in a yellow car was the one who hit her. The car that Daisy was driving, although the yellow car belongs to Jay Gatsby.

This only happened when Jay and Daisy were driving back to West Egg. But because Daisy was already upset with Jay, she did not think much about Myrtle’s health. Another reason why Daisy is to blame for Myrtle’s death is that she didn’t stop to check on Myrtle. Because before the accident happened, Daisy was already upset from the conversation with Jay. Gatsby had told Daisy to tell her husband that she never loved him. Daisy never stopped when she hit Myrtle ‘The God damned coward!’ he whimpered ‘He didn’t even stop his car'(Tom Buchanan 141). As Tom heard about it from Daisy, he knew what he could do.

The person responsible for Jay Gatsby’s death is Tom Buchanan. At the time of Myrtle’s death, Tom has told George that the yellow car seen by witnesses, was the same one that Jay Gatsby owns. Although Gatsby’s car was being driven by Daisy when the accident happened, Tom took that opportunity. George then left his house and went straight to Gatsby’s house. Gatsby was in his pool after a long summer when George had shot him. George had mistaken Gatsby for Myrtle death. As the true person who killed Myrtle was Daisy. George was well over upset for his wife. He only wants to leave with her.

To move with Myrtle far from the valley of Ashes. She’s going to stay there till the day after to-morrow, and then we’re going to move away(George Wilson, 136) Tom wants to get back at Gatsby. Tom was already mad at Gatsby for wanting to steal his wife from him. He knew what George was capable so he told George that Gatsby was the responsible one. Buchanan wants to stop Gatsby from seeing Daisy. But Tom may have gone a little far as he causes two more deaths as well.

The person responsible for George Wilson’s death is George himself. George went to Gatsby’s house and shot him dead in the pool. But afterward, Wilson turns the gun to himself. George had a gun to get back at Gatsby for killing his wife. He was only getting revenge for his wife. Wilson was overwhelmed by the death of Myrtle, he couldn’t take it.

Who is to Blame for Gatsby’s Death

Afterward, Wilson turns the gun to himself. He was the one who shot himself. After shooting Gatsby, Wilson took his life. Wilson was very upset about the death of Myrtle. It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the Gardner was Wilson’s body a little way off in the grass, the holocaust was complete (Fitzgerald 162) This tells how Wilson ends up dead. Many people play a role in blaming on whose death. One cause leads to another death. Also to another reason for a blame. I do believe that Daisy Buchanan is at fault for Myrtle Wilson’s death. Tom Buchanan causes the kill for Jay Gatsby’s death. George Wilson killing himself is the only person to blame. There could be many other people who are at fault.

The Great Gatsby, has those endings that end in a very twisted way. Daisy, who has been going through some emotional breakdown, has an accident with running over Myrtle Wilson. Tom is to blame for telling George Wilson that Gatsby is the reason why Myrtle is dead. George who lastly went as far as to end his own life. Many of the characters were extremely greedy and selfish. No one really cares about others except Gatsby and Nick. The ones who had money, would just show it off and boast about their wealth. Those who were not as wealthy were jealous of those from a higher class. But overall the characters were well thought out for the story and fit well.
