How long do fluconazole side effects last Reddit

Warning: TMI!

Hello! I'd like to preface this by saying that I realize a doctor would be best to speak to about this, but it's the weekend and the office is closed. So I was just hoping to hear some thoughts while I wait to contact the doc (if I even should..)

Anyway! Recently I was prescribed antibiotics for an infection in my uterus and I was also prescribed fluconazole to take after I finish my antibiotics because my doctor said I had signs of a yeast issue.

I finished my antibiotics on Friday, and that same day I took one fluconazole tablet. At that point in time I was grateful to take it because I had begun to have white chunky discharge and mild itching. However, a day after taking the pill.. my discharge became pink! I thought I would give it some more time. EDIT: Period isn't due for 11 days.

Things have just gotten worse. My discharge is becoming more pink, and the inside of my inner labia and the area around my vaginal entrance have become MORE itchy and have actually become painful to the touch.

My doc told me to take one fluconazole and then take another one 3 days later. Tomorrow I will take the 2nd (final) pill. Should I just wait it out and see if that clears things up? I don't want to waste the doctor's time if this is just a normal reaction to the treatment.

So.. has your yeast infection prescription made things worse before curing the infection?! I'm just feeling miserable with an itchy, painful, (bloody?) vagina. :(

Thank you.

🟢 1 ) is diet, no sugars and only 30-50 clean complex carbs ( leafy green vegetables 🥬) and specific nuts 🌰

This website helped me a bunch to understand the Candida diet, www.thecandidadiet.com it has tons of information about Candida, Candida recipes, do’s and don’t, it has a free 8 mail candida course, and other links like 17 natural antifungal foods you can eat. This is a great place to start reading and learning more.

So getting into the basics and staple foods -

  • Meats and Protein you can eat while on Candida:

Chicken, Ground Beef non processed, Ground turkey, Grass fed Beef, Salmon - Fish (wild caught preferably though you can eat farm raised as well) Shrimp is good and super easy to cook with spices and Earth Balance Soy Free Dairy Free Butter 🧈 Lamb, and also Eggs, 🍳 around 4 a day max would be healthy.

  • Here are the leafy greens and vegetables you can eat:

Kale, Spinach, Spring Mix, Broccoli, Zucchini, Avocados, Onions, Garlic, Fermented probiotic foods like Saur Kraut, Kimchi, Cilantro, Parsley, there’s more but these are the safest

  • Also i have a rule i stick by on carbohydrates:

the biggest carbohydrates i can eat or that something can have on the food label is 14 grams or 5% daily value carbohydrates, and i don’t eat that every day.

I don’t even eat quinoa or buckwheat because quinoa has 22 grams of carbs and buckwheat 31 g’s. In one side of one meal that’s basically all of my carbs for the day.

What i do eat almost every day and snack on reliably is mixed nuts: they almost all contain 4 grams of carbohydrates or 1% of daily value intake of your carbs, that is in 1/4 cup. If you have a cup of mixed nuts you will intake 16 grams of carbs in your day. This is your snacking grams of carbohydrates i split them into two sections, two half cups a day. And i don’t eat heavy carbs after 6:30 only my leafy greens.

  • These are the seeds and nuts you can eat on the Candida Diet: Almonds, Walnuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts, Macadamia Nuts, Brazil Nuts, Pumpkin Seeds (are naturally antifungal), Sun flower seeds, Pine Nuts

They are all 4 grams of carbs or 1% per 1/4 cup so you can use them as a constant carb source.

You can also drink:

Almond Milk or Coconut Milk with zero sugar. Sparkling Water with zero sugar

I wouldn’t eat yogurt, try Goat Kefir instead make sure it has almost 0 sugars.

I would say no cheese unless it’s Feta Cheese.

I also drink lots of tea, caffeine free tea unless it’s green tea or matcha because it has healthy caffeine that is non inflammatory.

No coffee, unless you buy online a special coffee called which is called “ Swiss Water Method Coffee” where they extract all the Caffeine because even decaf has caffeine and it’s inflammatory.

You can use Stevia that is organic and preferably green to sweeten up your tea 🍵 and your drinks. But there is white stevia with nothing added to it. The thing is some companies add dextrose, or inulin, or erythritol to it and it raises your blood sugar and feeds Candida. So it needs to be just Stevia in the ingredients and nothing else

Here are two really good ones with nothing else!

Organic Stevia Leaf Extract

Organic Stevia 100% Pure

How long do fluconazole side effects last Reddit

So after 35 years of surviving as a woman, the yeast beast finally reared its ugly head. I've been battling (from what I can tell) a mild yeast infection with coconut oil/tea tree/femidophilus since Saturday of last week. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon to see if Diflucan is the next course of action. Since I've never dealt with YIs before, I want to know what Diflucan's effectiveness would be for a first timer like me. I just want this stupid infection to go away.

How long can side effects of fluconazole last?

The enzyme inhibiting effect of fluconazole persists for 4 to 5 days after discontinuation of fluconazole. Although single-dose fluconazole is effective for vaginal yeast infections, there is a higher risk of adverse reactions (26%) versus intravaginal agents (16%).

How common are side effects from fluconazole?

The following treatment-related clinical adverse events occurred at an incidence of 1% or greater in 4048 patients receiving DIFLUCAN for 7 or more days in clinical trials: nausea 3.7%, headache 1.9%, skin rash 1.8%, vomiting 1.7%, abdominal pain 1.7%, and diarrhea 1.5%.

Can fluconazole make you feel sick?

You can take fluconazole with or without food. The most common side effects of fluconazole are feeling sick (nausea) and diarrhoea. For thrush, you can buy fluconazole capsules (brand names include Canesten Thrush Oral Capsules) or fluconazole capsules with clotrimazole cream (brand names include Canesten Thrush Duo).

Does fluconazole make yeast infection worse before better?

It's going to get worse before it gets better, trust me. When I take it, it usually gets worse for about 2-3 days. On the third day if I am not feeling better I'll take another dose and my symptoms will be gone within 24 hours.
