Notes[]

Multiple civilizations trick[]

Before the Definitive Edition, with single civilization limitations for AI personalities, it is possible to assign the same civilization to several AIs in single-player skirmish using the following trick:

  • First choose the number of players and pick the civilization of the last AI;
  • Then decrease by one the number of players and pick the civilization of the last slot again;
  • Repeat until there are two players;
  • Then put the number of players back to what it was originally; the slots will all contain the civilization that was chosen.

How many settlers should you have in AoE3?

I would advise a bare minimum of 10 settlers per resource, but be careful you don't build too many settlers, as an extra 10000 of everything doesn't help you when your 100 troops get defeated by the 150 enemy troops, and your buildings are destroyed before you can make more.

Is AoE3 better than aoe4?

If you're a casual player who prefer a sense of progress between missions, AoE3 is better. AoE IV builds directly on AoE2, which had the bigger long-term success and more popularity with the competitive crowd. As such, if you are more into that, AoE IV is better.
