Reports Find the Toyota Camry is Twice as Likely as the Average Car to Reach 200,000 Miles

The Toyota Camry has been America’s best-selling car for almost 20 years straight. Kudos to Toyota’s premier engineering ability, because boastful Camry-owners can be found in comment sections across online forums raving about their vehicle’s high milestones.

A significant number of owners report seeing their Toyota Camry’s odometer reach between 100,000 to 200,000 miles. Some owners even report mileage as high as 300,000 and beyond.

According to reliability studies conducted by automotive research firm iSeeCars, the Toyota Camry is nearly twice as likely to reach 200,000 miles over the average car. The report also found that 8.5 percent of original Toyota Camry owners kept their vehicle for 15-plus years, which is almost 1.5 times longer than the average car.

To get the most reliability and longevity out of their vehicle, Camry owners should, of course, follow all manufacturer-recommended routine maintenance schedules. Currently, Repair Pal reports that the annual maintenance cost of a 2021 Toyota Camry is less than $400.

For context, the annual maintenance cost of a 2010 Toyota Camry is also under $400, per Repair Pal. Typically, the Camry has lower five-year maintenance costs than its competitors.

The Truth About Cars reported on a 2004 Toyota Camry V6’s journey to 350,000 miles, only mentioning routine oil changes and light maintenance needed over its 15 years.

Toyota Camry Wins Auto Awards and Recognition for Longevity, but a Few Model Years may not Go the Distance

Overall, Toyota has not embraced certain industry trends, such as engine downsizing and turbocharging. Instead, the automaker is pivoting toward its proven strengths with electrification for power enhancements in preparation for Toyota’s shift to full-electrification.

Most recently, the 2021 Toyota Camry earned several awards, including IIHS Top Safety Pick, a five-star overall safety rating with the NHTSA, and it was named Best Resale Value in Its Class by Kelley Blue Book.

Unfortunately, a few Camry model years have been uncharacteristically problematic for Toyota in the past decade and thus likely won’t last as many miles nor years as Toyotas from other model years.

Specifically, Camrys from the sixth-generation experienced significant engine issues, including 2007-2010 and 2018 models. Subsequent quality control lapses prove no automaker is perfect, not even Toyota.

Toyota Camry can Take Drivers Over 100,000 Miles, and Past 300,000 when Taken Care of Properly

The Toyota Camry’s history of good reliability is unmatched. With many more Camrys lasting many more miles than similar cars, Toyota has proven the vehicle can be a long-lasting, reliable car.

The addition of updated passive and active safety features, and driver-assist technology to standard vehicle packages will likely impact a vehicle’s long-term reliability.

Taking care of a Toyota Camry and ensuring all recommended maintenance schedules are followed will help keep Camrys on the road for well over 100,000 miles, and up to 300,000 and more.

Worst Car I've Ever Owned: Toyota Camry

Just Paid $3100 to replace the heater/AC blend door. The rod moving the blend door as well as the gears are plastic and broken. $2600 in labor and $600 for the blend door box that also houses the heater core. What a messed-up configuration. Had to tear down the whole front part of the car, Dash, radio, underbelly of the dash, basically the there were not parts untouched in front of the driver as well as passengers side. Should never have bought foreign. The next car will be American. 2014 Toyota Camry with 60k

Sensible and Reliable Is The Toyota Camry

I bought my 2014 Toyota Camry certified pre-owned with 28k miles on it. I find it comfortable with plenty of headroom and legroom. However, I do think the backseat could have been made to provide an extra 2-3 inches of legroom for added comfort. I have had no problems or issues with my Camry since purchasing it. Performance-wise, I think it does fine, but I expected it to get better gas mileage than it is currently. It averages about 395 miles to the tank.

The 2020 Toyota Camry: Top Performance Car

My Toyota Camry, 2020, is an excellent car. When entering a freeway it has plenty of 'zip' to get in your lane. It is consistently reliable. It never ever stalls, just needs general maintenance ie oil change, tire rotation, etc. It has a great feature, the backup camera, which lets me back out of any parking space and I can see clearly what might be behind me.

The Great & Reliable 2019 Toyota Camry.

It is a 4 cylinder, but it has the guts to move and must be careful, as it is easy to speed in this car. Lane diversion notice, collision notice. The rear camera makes backing up very easy. Very good and reliable vehicle, and would definitely consider buying another Camry. Toyota has always been a reliable brand, and this car falls in that category also.

Toyota Camry: Not As Reliable As I Thought It Would Be

I have had more problems with this car than any other. I thought Toyota's were supposed to be very reliable, but mine has been everything except that. I have had countless issues with it including shock problems, headlight problems, and more. I have probably spent over $5,000 in auto repairs in the last 2 years on this car.

The Toyota Camry's Performance Is Okay

The four-cylinder older model Toyota Camry autos are just ok. They seem pretty reliable based on maintenance on the car. The car is pretty roomy inside, but the car is large and sometimes difficult to maneuver. The gas mileage is pretty bad compared to other 4 cylinder cars. Performance is just ok.

Reliable, Inexpensive, And Simple Up-Keep: 2004 Toyota Camry

It has been extremely reliable with very little time in a shop. As long as you keep up with the regular maintenance, such as oil changes, rotating the tires, and checking fluid levels it will last a very long time. One of the best reliable vehicles for a decent price.

The Toyota Camry Didn't Met My Exceptions

This car has been very reliable, however, it is very small and is very short to the ground. For how small the car is I expected to get better gas mileage than 22-24 mpg. It is a very reliable car and has had little to no issues with the actual run of the vehicle.

2005 Toyota Camry Is Reliable And Affordable.

My Camry has a great interior for being 13 years old. Also, you cannot go wrong with a sunroof. Gas mileage is also a huge plus. But, I have driven newer Camrys and the '05 has one of the worst turning radiuses. It has been completely reliable.

My Review Of The 2014 Toyota Camry

My Toyota gets good gas mileage and I have not had any performance issues. There has been 1 recall but I took it to the dealership and they handled it with no problem. As long as you keep up with the maintenance, this vehicle is great.
