It’s the droptop Volkswagen that has run for just over two years in the hands of The Wiggles.

Officially known as the Big Red Car, it’s now going for auction to raise money for  SIDS and Kids charity.

Volkswagen says the specially-tweaked Beetle Cabriolet was supplied for use at outdoor events and, since it’s spent most of its time parked, has only 300 kilometres on the clock.

It is likely to be superseded next year with an all-new open-air Beetle lands in Australia.

The auction runs for 10 days from December 7 and early predictions point to a $40,000 pricetag for the Big Red Car.

THE Wiggles' car is big and red. And it's worth about $37,500 according to an online auction.

The children's entertainers are retiring after performing 7000 shows over two decades, so they listed their iconic Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet nine days ago on auction site eBay.

The bright red soft-top car, which features low kilometres, leather-appointed upholstery and 16-inch alloy wheels, raised $37,500 when bidding closed 9pm (AEDT) on Monday.

All the money raised will be donated to SIDS and Kids.

There were 61 bids for the iconic Beetle.

The famous car was billed on eBay as "a rare collector's item" that had only had "four careful drivers" and an engine that revved with "considerable toot toot chugga chugga".

"So don't miss your chance to drive it home. It'll go like a hot potato, hot potato," the listing read.

Retiring skivvy-wearers Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Anthony Field have this year been on a farewell tour through Singapore, Britain, US, Canada and New Zealand as well as the more familiar run around Australia.

The Wiggles say they're calling it quits so they can focus more on their families and health after many years on the road.

Is The Wiggles Big Red Car Real?

Jeff was the first driver of the Big Red Car, which was made out of cardboard, and was big enough for the Wiggles' friends to fit in. Later on, the car was real and Greg became the driver.
