How much it cost to print at library

You will need a Library card or a copy card to use the self-service multi-function devices (MFDs) and reload kiosks in the Library. Both cards are available at service points in the reading rooms. Credit can then be added to your card at one of the reload kiosks.

MFDs and reload kiosks can be found on both floors of the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room, and in the Special Collections area of the Mitchell Library Reading Room.

You will need to speak to staff before copying material from the Library’s special collections.

The kiosk accepts:

  • all Australian denominations, except 5c coins and $100 notes
  • all major credit and debit cards (except American Express), including contactless smartphone payments.

Change cannot be provided.

Scanning

  • Scanning is free of charge.
  • You can scan to email, or scan large files directly to USB.
  • Please keep in mind that copyright restrictions still apply.

PRINTING

Web Printing

  • You can use Web Print to print from your own device via the Library’s free 'State Library of NSW' wi-fi.
  • Printing from an iPad or iPhone is limited to photos, or documents in your iCloud Drive.

Library Computers

There are free Library computers throughout the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room that you can use to print.

USB Printing

You can print from USB on all self-service printers. The USB port is on the left-hand side of the printer screen.

Using your own equipment

  • Speak to staff before you copy Library material with your own equipment including cameras, phones and hand-held scanners. You may need to complete a form before you copy material with your own equipment.
  • Scanners are not allowed in the Special Collections area. Find out more about using your own equipment in the Special Collections area.

You can print or copy Library material provided you meet the requirements of the Australian Copyright Act 1968 and any special requirements that apply to material that's original, unpublished or culturally sensitive.

Free Public Computers

Walkerville Library provides free Internet and public PCs. Guest passes for people visiting the state are also available. Bookings of One Hour per day, per card, with an option of an additional 30 minutes if available.

15-minute express Internet PCs and free wireless internet is also available.

One-to-one Computer, Laptop and iPad Help

Experienced Tutors are available at Walkerville Library to provide individual help on any computer topic or application in our Tech Tuesday sessions. How to print from your wireless device

To print from a laptop or home desktop

Open an internet browser and go to https://www.printeron.net/wcl/walkerville-library

  • Printer – Choose one of the options
  • User Info – Type in your email address
  • Select Document – Browse your files to select then click on the next button
  • Printing Options – Select the number of copies and click next
  • Approve the Print Job – Click on Print button

To print from a tablet, phone or smart device

There are two options to print from your tablet or smart device – using email or downloading the PrinterOn App.

Option 1 - Email

Send an email to the appropriate email address below and attach the document you would like to print to your email.

Option 2 - PrinterOn App

  • Download the free PrinterOn App from iTunes or Google Play
  • Open the App and click on the select printer button
  • Type Walkerville Library in the search and a list of all the printers will appear
  • Select the type of printer you want – eg Black and White single sided, Colour double sided etc
  • Select the type of item you would like to print – photos, documents, emails or web pages
  • Press the print button and enter your email address
  • Press the tick icon in the top right hand to submit printing

Collecting printing

Pay and collect for print jobs on the print release computer, located next to the printer in the library, by entering your email address.

Booking a Computer

Book a computer by phone, email or in person at Walkerville Library.

Conditions of Use

> To secure a time for your use, computer bookings are essential.

> Should you wish to print, please undertake this within your allocated computer session.

> For ease of use, it is suggested that basic computer knowledge is an advantage. Where possible, staff may assist should you have difficulty however individual training is not provided.

> For the comfort of all customers we ask that you consider the rights and sensibilities of other library users.

> Assessing inappropriate material is strictly prohibited at all times and may result in banning access.

> Staff reserve the right to restrict the use of the computer should inappropriate use or actions be determined.

> Please consider all Copyright Regulations and associated laws.

> For computer users under the age of 18 years, parents and/or guardians are required to complete the necessary form and will accept responsibility for the minor’s use of the internet.

Wireless Internet

Free Wireless is available to Walkerville Library members.

To use the Wireless internet with your own laptop, tablet or smart phone, you will need to have a library card and password. Please enquire with a library staff member if you need assistance.

How much does printing pages cost?

The average cost to print a page on a laser printer is around 5- to 8-cents for black and white, and between 12- and 15-cents for color laser prints. However, the cost of color print can rise as high as 60-cents per page for photos and heavy graphics.

Can I print from my phone at a library?

Printing from your phone is possible from most smartphones. To do so, your phone and the printer have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you don't have access to a printer yourself, go to your local library. Ask the librarian if their printers are connected to the Wi-Fi.

Can I print stuff at my local library?

Use Printers in Public or University Libraries If you've ever wondered, "do libraries have printers?" the answer is almost always, yes!

Is it cheaper to copy or print?

If many copies are to be published, then copiers are usually a cheaper option. However, if only a few pages need to be printed, then printing becomes much cheaper.
