Encanto has one of the largest main cast of characters in any Disney movie in recent years.

Most of the main cast of Encanto have had their official ages, birthdays, and heights confirmed by the film’s creators as they play an important part in the film’s events.

For those characters who haven’t had their information confirmed, fans have taken an educated guess as to what they could be. 

Mirabel Madrigal is 15 years old in Encanto and is one of the shortest main characters at only 5’2″ (157.5 cm). Despite her young age and lack of a magical gift like the rest of her family, Mirabel is full of love, life, and compassion. 

The oldest main character in Encanto is the Madrigal’s Abuela, Alma Madrigal. She is roughly 75 years old when the film takes place and stands at 5’5″ (165.1 cm). 

Bruno, Pepa, and Julieta are triplets and are all 50 years old with a shared birthday (October 17th). However, the siblings are all different in height. Bruno is 5’4″ (162.6 cm), Julieta is 5’5″ (165.1 cm) and Pepa is the tallest at 5’7″ (170.2 cm). 

Encanto follows Mirabel Madrigal and her desire to make her family proud, even if she is not as special as the rest of her family.

It is a story of love, family, and the shared generation experiences that come with immigration, making it one of the most culturally important stories that Disney has ever told.

Mirabel Madrigal – March 6th 

Mirabel Madrigal may not be the tallest Madrigal in Encanto at only 5’2″ (157.5 cm), but she is the film’s leading character. And for a good reason!

She is full of personality, more so than the typical 15 years old, and is a very complex character.

Mirabel plays the typical, curious 15 year old protagonist in Encanto, though she appears much older due to the responsibility of being a Madrigal. Ever since she failed to be presented with a magical gift at 5 years old, Mirabel has been desperate to prove herself to everyone in Encanto.

Despite the significant part she plays in the Encanto community, Mirabel still feels she doesn’t belong in her own family. Though this feeling is not that peculiar for a 15 years old, Mirabel certainly feels it more than others her age as she is set apart by her family because of her lack of magic.

Alma Madrigal

Alma Madrigal (aka Abuela) is the oldest of the Madrigals at roughly 75 years old, and is the head of the family. Though she is only 5’5″ (165.1 cm), Alma has the most authority in Encanto. After all, she is responsible for its creation.

While Pepa and Julieta show their love for their family in a caring, motherly sense, Alma tends to show her love more authoritatively.

She fiercely guards her family and Encanto, forcing herself to become detached from the community emotionally so that she can prioritize its safety. This is why she struggles to show the same love to Mirabel.

Everyone in Encanto looks to Alma not necessarily as the eldest or wisest member of the community but as the one who knows how to lead. This is a pressure that Alma also forces onto the rest of the Madrigals, not realizing how negatively the stress affects her family.

Bruno Madrigal – October 17th

Bruno Madrigal is one-third of the Madrigal triplets (consisting of Bruno, Julieta, and Pepa) but is shorter than his siblings at 5’4″ (162.6 cm). Of course, he has the same birthday as his sisters and is also 50 years old.

Bruno is by far the most mysterious character in Encanto, with a whole song dedicated to keeping him out of conversations for the sake of superstition. However, when Mirabel meets Bruno, he is nothing like the Madrigals described while singing ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno‘.

Bruno can see prophecies, many of which previously predicted bad events that Bruno then got the blame for. But Bruno is even more superstitious and cautious about his predictions than the rest of Encanto.

After Bruno predicted that Mirabel would not receive a gift, he left the family to protect those around him. He is presumed missing for 10 years and is only found to be secretly still living in the Madrigal house when Mirabel goes searching for answers.

Julieta Madrigal – October 17th

Julieta Madrigal is not as tall as her sister Pepa, but she is taller than Bruno at 5’5″ (165.1 cm). She is also slightly chubbier than her siblings, but this may be because she can heal people with food. Julieta is 50 years old, the exact same age as her siblings.

Each gift given to the Madrigals reflects who they are as a person. While every Madrigal is caring in their own way, Julieta has the most compassion and empathy to share with the community. This is likely why she was gifted the ability to heal people with her cooking.

Julieta is not only a mother herself but acts as a motherly figure for the whole town, helping to heal the Encanto community physically and willing to lend an ear when someone needs it.

Pepa Madrigal – October 17th 

Like Julieta and Bruno, Pepa Madrigal is 50 years old and has the same birthday as her fellow triplets. But Pepa is 5’7″ (170.2 cm), making her noticeably taller than her siblings.

Out of all of the triplets, Pepa is by far the most emotionally unstable.

Her gift means that her mood affects the weather, which puts a lot of pressure on Pepa to remain calm and happy at all times. But of course, that is impossible for anyone, especially a middle-aged mother of 3.

Pepa cares deeply about her family and does her best to remain calm for them. But because she tends to be more naturally volatile to extreme emotions than the rest of the Madrigals, Pepa requires the help of her family to keep the weather stable.

Isabela Madrigal – August 7th 

Isabela Madrigal is the oldest Madrigal grandchild by a few weeks at 21 years old. She is one of the shortest Madrigals, standing at only 5’3″ (160 cm), making her considerably shorter than her betrothed fiance Mariano.

Like the rest of the Madrigal family, Isabela carries her own burdens. Arguably, even more so than the other grandchildren as she is the oldest, making her responsible for producing an heir first and keeping the Madrigal family legacy running.

Isabela can control flowers, making her appear very sweet and feminine. But as Encanto progresses, we see that Isabela feels forced to be this way because of her gift and that she has an edgy side she doesn’t show to anyone except Mirabel.

Though this edginess comes across as cruel, causing a big rift between Mirabel and Isabela.

Luisa Madrigal – November 14th 

Luisa Madrigal is 19 years old, making her the second oldest daughter of Julieta and Agustín and 3rd oldest grandchild. Her physical build is a true reflection of her gift (super-strength). Louisa is the tallest Madrigal at 6’5″ (195.6 cm) and is by far the most muscular.

Part of being a Madrigal, as Encanto explores, means being responsible for looking after the community. Luisa’s physical strength and muscular physique mean that she is often tasked with the emotional weight of her community and the physical weight.

However, Luisa’s strength is very deceptive. She is not as confident or calm as she appears to everyone else. But it is not until Mirabel starts noticing the cracks in the Madrigal family and Luisa loses her gift that Luisa’s vulnerability comes to light.

Agustín Madrigal – June 19th

Aside from Luisa’s presumably magically enhanced height, Augustín Madrigal is the tallest Madrigal at 5’10” (177.8 cm). Though Agustín is the youngest of the Madrigal parents at 48 years old – a whole 2 years younger than his wife, Julieta.

Augustín married into the Madrigal family and so was not gifted a magical ability like his wife and daughters. But Augustín does everything he can to understand and encourage his family’s abilities, whether those abilities be magically gifted or natural.

Agustín seems to have the closest relationship with his youngest daughter Mirabel as she doesn’t have a gift either. He is always there to reassure Mirable that the family loves her regardless, even when Alma suggests otherwise.

Félix Madrigal – November 11th 

He may be the same height as many other Madrigals at 5’5″ (165.1 cm), but Félix Madrigal’s personality and stockier build make him seem much bigger. He is only a few years older than his wife Pepa at 52 years old, making him the oldest Madrigal after Alma.

Like Agustín, Félix is not a Madrigal by blood and so does not possess a gift. However, this makes him no less part of the family. Félix acts as the perfect balancing force for Pepa when she is overly stressed or anxious.

It is no wonder that Félix’s joyous and generally youthful personality makes him fit so well into the Madrigal family. He is a natural addition to the family’s dynamics, offering kindness and a fun time when the pressure becomes too much.

Dolores Madrigal – August 31st

Dolores Madrigal is the oldest of Pepa and Félix’s children and is only a few weeks younger than Isabela at 21 years old. Everything about Dolores’ character is quiet and petite. She is only 5’5″ (165.1 cm), which is the same height as Félix, but she takes after Pepa with her slimness.

The relationship between Dolores and her siblings (Camilo and Antonio) is very different from that of Isabella and her siblings, even though they are both the eldest daughters. Dolores is softly spoken and is very mature because her gift requires a higher level of responsibility than some of the other Madrigal gifts.

As she has the ability of super hearing, no secret, news, or day-to-day conversation is safe from Dolores. She always knows what is going on in the community, even when she doesn’t want to know.

Camilo Madrigal – December 28th 

Camilo Madrigal’s is 5’4″ (162.6 cm) for most of Encanto. But, because he was given the gift of shapeshifting, Camilo can change his height at will. Camilo is the same age as Mirabel at 15 years old. Though he acts much more childlike.

Like any teen boy, Camilo is trying to figure out exactly who he is and what place he has in the Encanto community. However, this is made a little harder for Camilo to figure out considering he can shift into someone completely new.

Camilo relies on comedy and pranks to combat the difficulties of teenhood, which come as naturally to him as his shapeshifting abilities. But he never has any malicious intent.

Antonio Madrigal – May 21st

Antonio Madrigal is the youngest son of Félix and Pepa, also making him the youngest Madrigal at 5 years old. His height is reflective of his age, standing at only 3’10” (116.8 cm). This is taller than the town kids but shorter than everyone else.

It is Antonio’s gift ceremony that kicks off the events of Encanto, during which he is awarded the gift of being able to talk to animals. This makes sense as before Antonio receives his gift, he is extremely kind and empathetic, able to communicate with those who are not always understood (such as animals or Mirabel).

He may be the youngest of the Madrigals, but Antonia is very smart and incredibly kind. This could be because of his age, but it is most likely because he is a genuinely nice person.

Pedro Madrigal

Because Pedro Madrigal is only featured in paintings or flashbacks within the movie, it is hard to tell exactly how tall he was. Fans guess that he was 5’8″ (172.7 cm) before being murdered at 26 years old, protecting his family.

Pedro may only appear in Encanto for a few scenes, but his bravery and courage allowed Encanto to exist in the first place. When Pedro, Alma, and several other Colombians had to flee their homes, Pedro forfeited his life to give his newborn triplets (Pepa, Bruno, and Julieta) and Alma a chance of survival.

From his sacrifice, Encanto was born and provided a safe place for the community. Pedro’s young age makes his sacrifice even more heartbreaking and the fact that he never got to see his children grow up.

Mariano Guzmán

At 5’8″ (172.7 cm) and with a much more muscular physique than most of the characters in Encanto, Mariano Guzmán’s appearance makes him seem like he is considerably older than Isabela. However, Mariano is only a year older at 22 years old.

His appearance may give off the impression of a ‘big dumb hunk’ (in the words of Mirabel), but Mariano has a big heart. He seems genuinely excited about marrying Isabela and becoming part of the Madrigal family.

Mariano’s passion for all things love really juxtaposes his more masculine appearance. He is quick to swoon for Dolores at the end of Encanto even though he just had his heart broken by Isabela and expresses how much he wants someone to love.

Señora Guzmán

Although Señora Guzmán is Mariano’s mother, she appears to be the same age as Alma at roughly 75 years old, based on her predominantly grey hair and choice of fashion. Señora Guzmán is also the same height as Alma at 5’5″ (165.1 cm).

As the head of the Guzmán family, Señora Guzmán is as eager as Alma to get Mariano and Isabela’s wedding underway. Though she agrees that the wedding would be good for Encanto, Señora Guzmán is also clearly excited about her son finding a wife.

Despite Alma and Señora Guzmán being evenly matched in appearance and age, Señora Guzmán seems frailer and less assertive, showing care for her family with light, comforting touches instead of hard and strict rules.

Osvaldo

Osvaldo is one of the tallest characters in Encanto, standing at roughly 5’10” (177.8 cm). But it is mostly his exaggeratedly large gut that makes him seem larger than other taller characters, such as Agustín. Osvaldo’s age has not been specified, but he is estimated to at least be in his 40’s.

Though he only has a small part to play in Encanto, Osvaldo is full of character. He is a typical, overly kind middle-aged man who is full of good intentions but doesn’t always think before he speaks.

For example, Osvaldo brings Mirable a gift basket as she doesn’t possess a magical gift, but then he quickly realizes the awkwardness of his gift.

Juancho

Out of the 3 town kids featured in Encanto, Juancho (aka ‘Pumped’ Juanch) is the most energetic, constantly bouncing around and making it hard to distinguish exactly how tall he is. Compared to Cecilia and Alejandra, Juancho is thought to be 3’8.5″ (113 cm) and is roughly the same age at 6 years old.

Juancho may not have a big part in Encanto, but he is certainly a character. It is usual for kids to drink coffee with milk in Colombian culture, but Juancho takes the treat just a little too far.

He is always hyperactive, even more so than a typical 6 year old, as he is pumped full of caffeine. Juancho’s caffeine addiction is a running joke throughout Encanto.

Alejandra

Alejandra is the tallest town kid in Encanto at roughly 3’9″ (114.3 cm). Though this is shorter than Antonio, Alejandra is thought to be a year or so older than him at 6 years old. This is based mainly on how she interacts with the other characters and how she talks.

Just like Juancho, Alejandra is very hyperactive and cheerful. However, this is certainly more due to her age than caffeine.

Alejandra is a typical loud 6 year old, asking questions in a way that would seem rude if she were an adult. Because of this, she takes the lead in asking Mirabel questions about the Madrigal family at the beginning of Encanto.

Cecilia

Using Antonio as a size comparison, Cecilia is estimated to be approximately 3’8″ (11.8 cm). She is the shortest of the town kids but appears to be the same age at roughly 6 years old.

Perhaps it is her shortness that makes Cecilia seem a little quieter than the other town kids, but she is no less curious to know everything about the Madrigal family.

However, Cecilia is not as blunt or as loud when asking her questions, even going as far as to try to rein in Juancho and Alejandra when they are being rude.
