How to check balance in Android phone

If you’re on a prepaid phone plan, there’s one thing that will always be on your mind – data  (and if you’re on a postpaid plan, data might still be a concern too). The last thing you want when away from your home WiFi is for your data to run out, or for your credit balance to be depleted.

Needless to say, every telco out there has some way that you can check on your data – and if you’re a Telstra customer, you’ll have several options for keeping on top of your plan usage.  Here’s a detailed guide on how to check your prepaid or postpaid balance with Telstra.

How do I check my Telstra balance?

Telstra has created several solutions to checking your balance and recharging your plan. They are:

Use the My Telstra App

The My Telstra App is the one-stop shop for anything technical to do with your plan – whether you need to recharge, check your data, pay any bills, track orders, check outages or get live help. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Use a browser on your phone

If you use a browser on your phone (such as Chrome or Safari) all you need to do is type ‘m.telstra.com’ into the URL bar. From there, you can check on your balance without needing to log-in, provided you’re using it’s the SIM card attached to the plan that you’d like to check. This doesn’t use any data.

Use a computer

If you sign into My Account using your Telstra ID by using a browser on your computer, you can check your current data usage. From this page, you can also recharge your plan or check your billing information.

Text 176

If you text the word ‘USE’ to 176, you’ll get an SMS back saying how much data you have remaining.

Telstra has some great prepaid offerings if you’re looking for a flexible plan. Standard prepaid plans start at $10 for 1GB on a seven day expiry and go up to $300 for 150GB on a 12-month expiry. “Long Life” plans also exist, and range from $30 on a 6-month expiry, and up to $150 on a 12-month expiry, and are perfect if you want a pay as you go plan. You can find the plans below.

Postpaid plans also include unlimited speed-capped data, in addition to a full-speed data allowance: once you’ve used up your fast gigabytes, you’ll still have access to data, albeit limited to speeds of 1.5Mbps, until your plan resets.
