Types of Devil Fruits

Devil fruits are mainly separated into 3 different types: Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan.

Logia

Logia fruits enables the user to create natural elements at will, making them the element itself. Since they are natural elements, they are able to phase through attacks that consists of physical objects such as Fighting Style, Swords, Guns with the exception being Haki, enabling the haki user to hit them physically instead of phasing through their body.

Logia fruits aren't recommended for people who are in the earlier stages of the game since it gives physical intangibility for the user, making them unable to train their defense and giving them lower health in the later stages of the game.

Logia immunity starts at the Starter Island and ends in the Fishman Island due to the npc's being able to use haki and hit logia users.

Zoan

Zoan fruits enable the user to be able to shift/transform into their respective animals/beasts, giving them the appearance of their specific animals/beasts.

Zoan fruits are divided into three categories in which are called Mythical Zoans, Standard Zoans, Ancient Zoans. Mythical Zoans tend to take the appearance of mythical creatures such as dragons, phoenixes, and deities. Meanwhile Standard Zoans take the appearance of basic animals such as humans, leopards, elephants. On the other hand, Ancient Zoans take the form of ancient animals that has lived in the prehistoric eras such as dinosaurs.

Zoan fruits can also be used in a different way and that is to wield the strength of the animal yet taking a physical appearance of the user itself, or hybrid in short. Hybrid forms gives the user the same properties of their transformed beast state while maintaining the human-like appearance of the user.

Paramecia

Paramecia fruits are fruits that don't quite fit into the other types, in short, Paramecia fruits are the type of fruits that does not give the user any physical appearance changes nor abilities but instead gives the user the properties of physical abilities such as manipulating string, turning invisible, or being able to generate mochi and use it as a weapon.

Effects

Having a devil fruit makes you take damage from water, due to it removing your ability to swim with the exception of Magma Fruit and Ice Fruit creating trails of their element making the user able to walk on water without taking damage.

Players with the Fishman race also take much less damage from water.
