Okay I need to know how to get a Steelix. I already have an Onix, and I'm thinking of getting it to somewhere between Lvl. 35-45, but after that i want to evolve it to a Steelx. I remember in the old Gold/Silver games there was an item called the Steel Plate or something of the sort, and that was how the Onix was evolved.

Since I never got the Steelix in the orginal games, I really want to take this opportunity and get it this time without using an AR like I did in Pearl. All I need to know is how to get the item (if it's still used), or if the Onix evolves on it's own now.

Yes that is correct purple oreo however there is only a 2% chance of finding them so it could take quite a while. They are also found in mt. silver with a 20% chance of finding one, but you won't be there for a while, also mudkip 3x you can only buy it on fridays.The last way is to catch a wild magnemite or magneton holding a metal coat which has 5% chance of being found on one. If you are taking this choice I suggest using a stantler with frisk so you can see if it is holding an item. So unless you have beaten the elite 4 you need to go to cliff cave, the pokeathlon, or start catching those magnemite. Good luck!

ok thanks. i caught a Steelix on Iron Island in Pearl, so i didn't worry about the whole Metal Coat thing. like said before, im waiting to get it stonger, so that it's easier to get high levels on it. no need trying to make it stronger as a Steelix because it takes forever. Or at least the one did.
