[toc] Show Displaying your countries flag in your Minecraft base is a great idea, especially if you’re playing on a towny or roleplaying server. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to create a Banner which contains the design of the American Flag. We’ve created more guides like this one for creating Minecraft Banners which you’re welcome to take a look at. We’re constantly adding more interesting and unique designs! Step 1: Craft a LoomTo apply patterns to Banners in Minecraft, you are going to need a Loom. These can easily be crafted using 2 Planks and 2 String. Planks can be crafted from Logs, and String can be obtained from Spiders or Cobwebs.  Alternatively, Looms can also be found in Villagers. They are a job site block, so there’s a chance for them to be found in Shepherds Houses which you can use or break to collect. Step 2: Create a Red FlagFor the American Flag, we’ll use a Red Banner as the base, which we can later apply white strips to. Place 6 Red Wool inside a Crafting Table, with a Stick in the bottom center slot. Red Wool can be obtained by applying a Red Dye to any colored Wool, with Red Dye being made from Roses. Step 3: Add White StripesNow it’s time to use the Loom. Open it up, place your Banner in the left slot, and White Dye in the dye slot. On the right hand side, you can see a list of patterns, look for ‘White Paly’. The White Paly pattern will apply the white stripes to your banner. You can take it out of the loom and into your inventory. Step 4: Blue CornerNow that we have a red and white striped flag, we need to make it look like the American flag by adding a blue corner. Place the Banner back into the Loom with a single Blue Dye, which can be obtained from Lapis Lazuli. Now just select the Blue Chief Dexter Canton pattern in the Loom, which looks like the image above. Some other specific items will be necessary to be able to make a red and white striped flag will the familiar blue square in the corner. Items NeededThere are a few items needed before jumping into making the flag. Either a White or Red Banner must be made. Bonemeal can be made from bones obtained from Skeletons and then turned into White Dye. The Lily of the Valley flower can also be used to make White Dye and has a 1:1 ratio, whereas one bone will make three bonemeal to make three White Dyes. Red and Blue Dye will be needed as well. Red Dye can be obtained using Poppies, Red Tulips, Beetroots, or Rose Bushes. Blue Dye can be obtained using Lapis Lazuli or Corn Flowers. The last item required is the Loom and Banner to put everything together. The recipe for a Loom only requires two wooden planks and two pieces of string. Whichever color banner is used will have that color's stripes on the top and bottom. Placing the banner into the Loom along with the opposite color dye will show the many patterns available. For the stripes, use the Paly pattern that will have the color of the Dye as a prefix so it will be either White Paly or Red Paly. For the blue corner of the flag, use the pattern named Chief Dexter Canton in the Loom's menu. After the design is done, the flag should be complete and can be hung around or placed on a Shield. Players can even duplicate the banner with ease by making other blank banners and crafting them with the flag. Placing the American Flag in the center of the crafting grid, with another blank banner underneath will duplicate the design over the new banner.
