How to program range rover garage door opener without remote

How do I program a Land Rover garage door opener?

You can program a Land Rover garage door opener by parking in front of your garage, grabbing your current garage remote, and following the steps below.

Land Rover uses the HomeLink system, which allows drivers to connect up to three garage doors to their Land Rover.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to programming your Land Rover garage door opener:

  • If you need to clear your HomeLink’s memory, you need to push and hold the two outer buttons of the HomeLink until the indicator light flashes.
  • Hold the current garage door remote within a few inches of the HomeLink.
  • Press the desired HomeLink button and the garage remote at once.
  • Once the indicator light turns a solid button, let go of the buttons.
  • Click the HomeLink button once to confirm it’s connected to your garage.

If the indicator light blinks instead of turning solid, you’ll need to press the Smart or Learn button on your garage motor, then click the HomeLink button again within 30 seconds.

      NOTES

The instructions below apply to the majority of HomeLink compatible systems. However, there are some HomeLink applications, or HomeLink compatible systems, that require slightly different instructions. For more information and instructional videos, visit: www.HomeLink.com.

      NOTES

Garage door openers manufactured after 1995 may be equipped with rolling code protection. If this is the case, a stepladder, or other sturdy safe device, may be required to reach the learn or smart button on the garage door opener.

      1. HomeLink buttons.

      2. LED indicator.

      3. Remote control for the device, e.g., garage door.

If required, erase the previous programming from the HomeLink device. See TO ERASE ALL PROGRAMMING.

      To program the HomeLink device:

      1. With the ignition switched on, press and release the required HomeLink button (1) on the rear-view mirror. The LED in the rear-view mirror's glass (2) flashes orange.

      2. Position the end of the remote control (3) 2 to 8 cm from the HomeLink button.

      3. Press and hold the button on the remote control. The LED on the rear-view mirror flashes green or continuously illuminates green. Release the remote control button.

        NOTES

Some remote device systems require the operator to cycle the remote control button every 2 seconds during programming. Refer to the additional information in Cycling the remote control at the end of the PROGRAMMING instructions.

      4. Firmly re-press and release the programmed HomeLink button up to three separate times to activate the device. If the device activates, programming is complete. If the device does not activate, continue with steps 5 to 7.

      5. Locate the learn or smart button on the motor head unit, located on the garage door opener's receiver.

        NOTES

The learn or smart button can usually be found directly on the motor head unit. If in doubt, refer to the garage door opener manual to identify the button.

      6. Firmly press and release the learn or smart button. There are typically 30 seconds to initiate Step 7.

      7. Return to the vehicle. Firmly press and release the programmed HomeLink button up to three separate times to activate the device. If the device activates, programming is complete.

      Cycling the remote control:

Some remote device systems have a remote control signal that only operates for a short period of time. The signal times-out before programming is complete. The operator is required to cycle the remote control button every 2 seconds during programming.

If experiencing difficulties while programming the remote device, carry out the following:

During programming of the remote device, replace programming step 3 with the following:

      1. Press and hold the HomeLink button. Simultaneously, press and release the remote control button every 2 seconds, until the LED indicator rapidly flashes green or continuously illuminates green. Release the HomeLink and remote control buttons.

      2. Continue the programming process from step 4.

If the HomeLink LED indicator does not rapidly flash green or continuously illuminate green after performing these steps, contact HomeLink at: www.homelink.com.
