How to reset a follett ice machine

Follett: Innovative Solutions Inspired by Ice

The Follett Ice Corporation has been making ice makers, ice storage bins, and ice and water dispensers for quite a while. Since 1948, the founder of the company, Roy Follett, decided there was an opening in the market for ice dispensing and storing products. Follett now has manufacturing plants around the world and continues to be a privately held, family run company; Steve Follett, Roy’s grandson became CEO in 1994. Follett’s dedication to ice and water dispensers is clearer than ever. You can find their products throughout the world and in a variety of environments such as stadiums, restaurants, casinos, hospitals, schools, and more.

The Nugget Ice You Crave

Follett is especially known for their nugget-type ice dispensers. You can see why when you look at their freestanding nugget ice and water dispensers. Some of these freestanding dispensers can produce as much as 125 pounds of nugget shaped ice, as well as store some of the ice for later use. These freestanding dispensers are easy to clean in part due to their stainless steel exterior. Additionally, the drainless design helps keep upkeep and maintenance simple as well. The attractive blue LED lighting creates a soft glow for anyone using the dispenser.

Undercounter & Built-In Ice Machines

Undercounter units are also available from Follett. These dispensers can produce large amounts of ice and water, just like the freestanding appliances. These units also come with an impressive two-year standard warranty on parts and labor (5 years for compressor). An internal filter and antimicrobial protection help keep the dispensed ice and water clean, cold, and pure.

It’s not just these freestanding and undercounter units that have all of the attractive features. Follett also makes smaller, countertop ice and water dispensers. These are great for environments where a full-sized freestanding or undercounter unit might not fit. These smaller, countertop dispensers are more accessible in a way, since they can simply fit on a kitchen countertop. What’s more, they’re still able to produce over 100 pounds of ice in a single day. A Follett countertop dispenser comes in at under 20 inches high, making them available to be installed in a number of cramped environments.

Follett deals in ice seriously, so they don’t just make ice and water dispensers. Follett also makes undercounter icemakers that work as commercial units. These are different from simple dispensers that can’t produce as much ice in a single day. But these commercial ice machines from Follett can make as much as 400 pounds of ice a day. Some of these machines make flake ice, which is very efficient in terms of cooling down beverages, but are also popular for fish, fruit, or vegetable displays. Front ventilated undercounter ice machines like this need water filter replacements to operate at maximum efficiency, and Follett supplies these too. A water filer from Follett may be useable in a number of different Follett machines, so with a little bit of research it’s easy to find the proper filter for your appliance.

Common Questions about Follett

Who makes Follett ice machines?

Follett Corporation was acquired by The Middleby Corporation, a $2 billion global leader in the foodservice equipment industry. Follett LLC, an independent operating company of Middleby, makes Follett ice machines.

How do you clean a Follett ice machine?

It’s important to note that Follett ice machines are designed to prevent buildup and clogs from water with high levels of dissolved minerals. This largely eliminates the need to descale the ice machine between normal sanitizing intervals. Regular cleaning is initiated by pressing the clean button on the unit and waiting for the low water light to come on. Mix one gallon of Follett’s SafeCLEAN Plus solution and fill the cleaning cup until the cleaner full light comes on. Then, place one SaniSponge in the remaining solution. After replacing the cover on the cleaning cup, the machine will clean and flush three times. Wait for the machine to restart in approximately 15 minutes before pressing the power switch to off and disconnecting the coupling. Insert a dry SaniSponge with the push rod, followed by the SaniSponge soaked in solution. Now, reconnect the coupling and switch the power on.

What kind of ice does the Follett Ice Machine Make?

Follett ice machines make different ice shapes for different purposes: customer-preferred Chewblet® ice, which is chewable compressed nugget ice; micro Chewblet®, a smaller version; and flake ice, soft, moldable, irregular shaped pieces of ice that look like snow.

Why isn't my Follett ice machine making ice?

When the ice machine isn't producing enough ice or making poor ice, look for the potential causes below: Dirty condenser coil – If the condenser coil is dirty, clean the coil. Air flow to condenser coil restricted – Check for an obstruction to the condenser coil. If there is one, remove it and clean the area.

How do you clear an ice maker?

Clean the Interior of the Ice Machine Use a soft cloth and some warm soapy water, or two tablespoons of baking soda dissolved into a gallon of warm water. Once you've cleaned the interior surfaces, use a soft, damp cloth to rinse. Lastly, wipe down the interior with a soft, dry towel.
