How to stop copper iud bleeding and spotting reddit

People with uteruses who have or have had a copper IUD in them: I am bleeding ~14 days out of the 30ish days of my menstrual cycle.

How do I make this stop? What are your experiences with copper IUD changes to menstrual cycle? Did your bleeding go back to normal eventually? Nutritional/herbal recommendations?

I used to have 3-4 days of med-light bleeding, with cramps on only the first 2 days. Now I have ~14 days of med-light bleeding and light cramps through all. of. it. I also get mid-cycle spotting around ovulation that also comes with some light cramping.

I check my strings regularly and it's not expelling as far as I can tell, and I went to to the clinic to get them to check it a couple months ago and it was fine.

I got my IUD inserted in May, and currently I'm on the 6th period since it was inserted. I'm frustrated. Plz send help.

Hey all! I'm having constant bleeding with the copper IUD and am wondering if my experience is normal.

I got the copper IUD at the end of January, and stopped taking the pill in mid-January. I bled lightly for about a month after I got it inserted, then had a few months of regular 25-29 day cycles. Those periods were heavier/crampier than normal.

My last period at the end of May was very light w/ no cramping, and since then I've been bleeding/spotting every single day - sometimes brown spotting, sometimes red blood.

My period was supposed to start last week, and I did have some cramps and slightly heavier bleeding, making it a 28-day cycle - but the period was nothing torrential like my first couple of IUD periods. And the bleeding has gotten more brown, but I'm still definitely spotting a week after the heavier bleeding started.

My strings feel fine and I don't have any pregnancy symptoms. Does anyone have experience with this? Could I still be adjusting to the IUD? Or adjusting to getting off the pill? Or does this sound like a hormonal issue, like PCOS? I don't think I have symptoms of a hormonal issue - no hormonal acne, maybe a little bit more blonde facial hair but not hirsute, no serious weight issues. Is this crazy bleeding normal for a copper IUD and will it end? I just moved and don't have a doctor I can see here.

Thanks!!

How to stop copper iud bleeding and spotting reddit

I've [F19] had the copper IUD for about a year and a half, definitely enough time for it to settle into my body. The past few days (~12/13 days into my cycle) I have had some spotting: one day of light spotting (light pink discharge), one day of a tiny bit of actual blood, then another day of a little bit of pinkish/brown discharge. I've also had very light cramps on and off for the past few days. I thought it might be ovulation, but it seems like it's gone on for too long to be that and also is a bit too early in my cycle. This has never really happened to me outside of the few months after I first got my IUD, and I don't know if it's a side effect or how concerned I should be. I am trying to schedule a gynecologist appointment just to check and make sure everything's ok, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone on here has had any similar experiences.

Hey all, was hoping some people maybe had the same experience and perhaps a reason for "why"

Basically, got the copper iud(mona lisa) inserted less than a month ago during my period. I've been having on off cramping that ranges from slightly annoying to uncomfortable combined with variations of light and heavy spotting/bleeding. These might have increased after I first tried sex while having it, but that might just be me grasping at straws.

(warning, possible tmi incoming, skip if squeamish)Mixed into the spotting is also globs of brown discharge(?). Its like the clumps you'd get from a period, but brown, and metallic smelling at times.

So honestly, this is partially venting since the bleeding is pretty annoying, not period level heavy, but being forced to wear some form of pads every day is starting to get on my nerves and bloody sex sounds messy. The cramps are whatever, my period cramps are still worse. Should I be at all concerned though, does the uterus eventually calm the hell down?

And if I should maybe be concerned, how concerned should I be? They had me book an appointment for sometime a little under a month from now to double check that everything is in place and all, should I consider calling in earlier?

I am personally not overly concerned since any pain, if I start noticing it enough, is mitigated by ibuprofen. I think I've taken pills twice since my period ended, so it's definitely nowhere near severe. And the doctors I saw didn't give me much in the way of side effects other than: cramping and heavier periods possible, so I'm at a loss.

Thanks everyone.

UPDATE: If anyone wants to add any other comments, its mainly spotting now. There was very little days of heavy bleeding it seems, mainly just bright red spotting with the occasional dark brown clump. Still happening, still annoying. One comment says they had the same experience so I just wish my uterus would just make friends with the thing and be done with it. Least I'll always have period stuff on me for when it arrives...
