7Up was created by C.L. Grigg of Missouri's Howdy Corporation in 1929. Howdy's orange soda drink was a great success, so Grigg elected to flavor a drink with lemons and limes. Originally named "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda," 7Up became "the third best-selling soft drink in the world" by 1940, according to its current manufacturer, Dr. Pepper/Seven Up Inc. Bottle and label designs have evolved through the years, but finding the date is simple.

Lift up the bottle of 7Up.

Look at the base, or bottom, of the bottle to find the date.

Look at the neck or label. If the plant has not printed the date on the base, it can be found on the neck or label of the bottle.

Warning

It is easier to do this searching before you have opened the bottle.

If you have agitated or inverted the bottle, wait a few minutes and open it carefully. All but the gentlest movements of the bottle can lead to excess foaming when the seal is broken.
