Intel Iris Xe Graphics vs Nvidia vs AMD

Hey guys, I was wondering if Intel's Xe iGPUs have overtaken AMD's 5th Gen Radeon Vega series iGPU's in laptop performance.  If anyone has an answer please respond, but it's not urgent, I'm just curious and couldn't get anything definite on Google.  (I already have a laptop with AMD Radeon graphics, Go Team Red!!!)  Mainly I'm just trying to figure out if Team Blue has a chance at all in the GPU market for laptops.

Tests and reviews are out there although I'm not up to date on the results.

I believe AMD's 6000 series APUs are out last month. They should be leading edge in mobile x86 world as of today, given Zen 3+ cores, DDR5, RDNA2 and TSMC 6nm all make for a good combo, on paper at least. In a very quick scan, it does seem to beat existing Alder Lake offerings for gaming, especially per-W, but the comparison is muddled due to more variability in offered laptop configurations.

If you exclude those latest CPUs, the 5000 series (I have a 5800H) seemed to be roughly trading blows with Intel offerings.

However above is about integrated GPUs only. If you're at all serious about gaming performance then dGPUs are still where it's at. Intel will launch mobile Arc GPUs in 5 days time. nvidia already have a wide range in that space. AMD doesn't feel to me like they're trying very hard. There are 6800M and 6600M but there's only a handful of models out using them.

    Main system: Asus X299 TUF mark 2, i9-7920X, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance LPX RGB 3000 8x8GB, MSI 3070 Gaming Trio X, Corsair HX1000i, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 960 Evo 500GB, Crucial BX500 1TB, Acer Predator 24" 1440p144 G-Sync + HP 24" 1200p60 wide gamut
    Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion, 5800H, DDR4 3200C22 2x8GB, RTX 3070, SK Hynix 512 GB + Crucial P1 TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

Not yet. But its a massive improvement from the previous igpu. AMD drivers are more mature especially for gaming.

Given the substantial leap forward that the new consoles have put forth, it will be awhile for iGPUs to reach reasonable performance levels in new AAA titles. Game developers have pretty much gone HAM on new features and visual effects. Current iGPU options about match or exceed the base PS4 in compute. Not that they're "bad" per se. iGPUs have come a very long way since the dark days or the GMA, where even old games barely ran. Just that expectations need to be tapered a bit. For AAA gaming, you'll want to go with a dGPU.

That said, if you're not looking at AAA gaming, both Intel and AMD have some really compelling options in their Iris XE and Vega 8 lines respectively. They tend to trade blows, with AMD taking some leads owing to more mature drivers. You can't go wrong with either, really.

Is Iris Xe graphics better than Nvidia?

By any metric, Intel Iris Xe cannot be compared to the upper-level GeForce RTX 3080. It exceeds its capabilities not just by two figures but by three (and nearly four) in some ways.

What is Intel Iris Xe equivalent to Nvidia?

    NVIDIA GeForce MX450.

Is Iris Xe enough for gaming?

You can expect a three- to four-fold performance boost in most games. The performance lift is so great that you should immediately cross any Intel laptop that doesn't have Intel Xe graphics off your list.

Is Intel Iris Xe graphics better than Nvidia GTX 1650?

The average gaming FPS of GeForce GTX 1650 mobile in Fortnite is 97% more, than Iris Xe Graphics G7. The average gaming FPS of GeForce GTX 1650 mobile in Forza Horizon 4 is 110% more, than Iris Xe Graphics G7. The average gaming FPS of GeForce GTX 1650 mobile in Grand Theft Auto V is 79% more, than Iris Xe Graphics G7.
