Is Death Note worth watching after L dies Reddit

I just got into Death Note a few days ago and fell in love with it, especially L. I hear that after episode 25 it all goes down hill and that a lot of people just consider episode 25 to be the real finale. And after watching it, I can live with it.

The thing is I just don't really have much of an interest in it without L. He was my favorite character, perhaps the only character I actually liked and why should I continue to watch a show with characters I dislike, especially if it gets bad from hereon out. So tell me, without spoilers, if I should just stop watching.

Update: I finished it, and I'm glad I did, even if I do feel it was worse than before. I miss L.

Is Death Note worth watching after L dies Reddit

I mean I watched the 25th episode and I lost interest in watching it anymore. I was like connected in a way with L he was my favorite character so I was really sad after he died. I think that Light is a big jerk for treating Misa in such a way. Can somebody at least confirm that Misa is going to be all right or that Light starts to treat her better?

Is Death Note worth watching after L dies Reddit

level 1

I don't want to ruin anything but I actually think you will like the conclusion. New characters are introduced but the writing is still really good! And don't worry about misa :) just keep watching only 12 more episodes! It is definitely worth watching

level 1

Yes, it is. There are some people that will tell you, that rest of the episodes "don't exist", but most (MOST, not all) of those people say it just because they didn't understand what, and why happened.

level 1

Think about Misa through Light's eyes, about his intentions, she endangers him and his end goal.

It's worth finishing, I'll agree it slows down hugely, but it picks back up, the mindplay picks bad up and it ends perfectly.

level 1

Honestly, my favorite character was L like many others, however, my 2nd favorite, 3rd favorite, AND 4th favorite characters are ALL introduced AFTER episode 25, so yeah, keep watching.

level 1

Yes. If Near and Mello don't size up for you (and they don't for a lot of people), try to watch it for the world. I argue with everybody that the purpose of the second season is to show what Kira's world would be like.

level 1

The battle between L and Light was a lot more interesting than the following episodes. Light plays the game terribly after L's gone and it becomes a lot more of a character study. N and Mellow allow you to see a lot more of L's personality and Light's downfall shows you a lot more of his.

level 2

Dude... Spoilers... OP has clearly not finished the show.

level 2

Agreed, the previous episodes were about game between the two, and they were both pretty equal at it, however the game after that episode seemed to have to do with less about anyone succeeding and more about what trying to succeed is doing go the people around Light

level 1

YES!!!

Edit: Oh wait I just read the title. Can not confirm the rest.

Generally speaking the arc that follows after this point is the arc of greatest controversy. Regardless, I think most people will tell you the ENDING of the show is good, but yes, there is lots of mixed opinions about the second arc. Personally, I think it's worth watching regardless, but I agree with you, L was one of the pivotal aspects of the show. It'd be like if halfway through they just randomly killed Ryuk or some shit.

Whichever way you go, I recommend looking into the japanese live action movies (not the netflix one) It's two movies, part 1 and 2, and it follows the L vs Kira arc and then ends a little differently. Honestly I wish the anime did a more fleshed out version of that story instead, cus I love it. But, to each their own, results may vary.

Watch it! Then you'll have an opinion on it, an experience you can talk about!

My first watch, I got upset when L died. I thought to myself "this is how you ruin a great series." After watching death note way too many times(I'm probably at 40+ re watches, maybe more) I realized how good the episodes post L's death are.

You get to see Kira at a more cocky level due to being free from competition for 6 whole years. I could delve deeper into why the last few episodes are actually amazing and complete the story but I don't wanna spoil it for OP.

All I can say is, I used to be like you but Near slowly became one of my favorites. I used to hate Mello but I learned to love him. There's so much great about the episodes after L dies..it would be a shame to the anime to abandon it after that crucial scene.

A lot of people claim L dying ruined the show, I believe it's what made the show great. Was so un expected, the timing was so perfect..I still get goosebumps when I watch it.

Is Death Note worth watching after L's death?

After the death of L we feel that the anime was all about mind games between light and L but now that L is dead what's left in the anime. But don't stop watching it. There's a time skip after this and kira becomes even more dominating over the world. His existence becomes a fact that world start to accept.

Should I watch Death Note again?

Death Note is a classic thriller anime. Despite the unsuccessful live-action series and movie, Death Note remains on fans' must-watch lists. However, Death Note is not free from its faults. Despite its relevant themes (like the issues of morality), rewatching this anime comes with plenty of harsh realities.

Why Death Note is a masterpiece?

The series is significantly darker compared to mainstream shonen anime like One Piece or Naruto. The central theme of the show is 'justice' and punishment befitting the crime. But how Death Note makes this well-worn theme fascinating is by exploring how ambiguous morality is and how justice itself can be twisted.

Should Death Note have ended after episode 25?

Probably. Death note was great, however after the 25th episode, the quality fell, not because of L's death, but because of Mellow and Near, both of whom came after. Both of them were poor imitations of L and some people just to fill in the gap.
