Is May a good time to go to Myrtle Beach

What is the best time of year to go toMyrtle Beach? I definitely do not want to go during Spring Break. I would like to go when the weather is nice, but preferably when it is not overly crowded.

My brother in law went in early May and loved it. Not crowded at all.

I would guess that September would be a great time to go since most families will have their children in school by then and the weather is very nice then.

I forgot to mention that obviously in Sept. you may have an issue with tropical storms and the potential for hurricanes.

I would suggest early May or September or early October.

I've been to the beach in those fall months and the weather was always perfect!

The first week of May fine, starting with 2nd week thru the end of May its pretty much BIKE MONTH. We go from Harley Week (actually more like 10 days) to Atlantic Beach Bike week during Memorial Day.

April was a very busy month as well, we had several weeks of spring break and Easter breaks.

June is not bad, we have Senior Week but those kids stay mainly around the "strip" area on Ocean Blvd and Sun Fun Festival.

September is good, with this year the Fall SOS hitting Sept 15th to Sept 24th, so North MB will be very crowded with Shaggers. Oct 3-7, 2007 is Fall Bike week.

Late Aug-early Oct might be the greatest chances for Tropical Weather, but even that is minimal.

we vacation late August.. actually the last week...

we really enjoy it..I would love to come the 2nd week of sept..

but the boys are in school...

We consistently head to MB the 3rd week in August. Low-season rates begin since the SC/NC kids are back in school. The crowds are lighter yet all the attractions are in full-swing (especially the water parks which start limiting their hours).

But, as others have stated, anytime is great. We also head down in October, New Years, March, etc and always have a blast. Have fun !
