Is Rust on Xbox Game Pass 2022

Rust feels like it has been around forever, but in actuality, it’s only been fully released on PC back in 2018 after existing in early access back in December 2018. Console fans have had to wait all the way until May 2021 before they got their chance to experience Rust’s survival experience. If you’re here, you’re likely wondering if Rust is on Game Pass then? Not only is it on PC, but it’s on Xbox now too, so there’s always a chance these days right? Here’s what you need to know.

Let’s cut right to the chase, shall we? Rust, currently at the time of this writing, is not available to download from Xbox Game Pass on PC or just regular ol’ Game Pass.

This could change in either the near or far future. It’s very hard to predict what games do come to Xbox, only that Microsoft is trying to aggressively expand the service and you can regularly expect good games to trickle onto the service.

If we were to offer up a guess, generally if a game isn’t added to Game Pass right when it comes out, if it’s a paid game, it may be a few months or more before it does eventually get added. It could be that the developers are waiting to get some sales first before joining Game Pass once the sales start to slow.

This is just speculation, though, and we have no idea when or if Rust will ever come to Game Pass. That’s all you need to know for now. Since Rust launched for Windows and Mac back in 2018, the game has found a huge following. It quickly became one of the most popular survival video games around, and even found a massive revival in recent times after various Twitch streamers began playing the game again, propelling the Rust player base to 244,000 in January of 2021.

It looks like the success is about to keep coming as Rust will officially release on Xbox and PlayStation on May 21, 2021.

According to the developers, the Rust Console Edition will exist as a separate entity from the PC version. Both versions will have a separate roadmap and community.

Pre-order Rust on PlayStation and Xbox right now. Those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition of the game will gain access to Rust on May 18, 3 days earlier than the official release date for the Standard Edition.

Will Rust Be On Xbox Game Pass?

As mentioned previously, the Console Edition of Rust comes with a rather hefty $50/£45 price tag. So, will you be able to pick up Rust Console Edition for free as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription?

As of writing, the answer is no. Rust Console Edition has not currently been confirmed to be arriving on Xbox Game Pass.

However, this doesn't mean that the game will never arrive on Game Pass. The line-up of games joining Game Pass for the month of May have already been announced, but June is still yet to be confirmed.
