Is World War Z free on Amazon?

This Movie doesn't really do a good job on character development and doesn't even bother to make the story make any sense. If you are a fan of Brad Pitt, you will probably watch it anyways. (**Spoiler Alert**) First off, there is one scene where they speak Spanish, this maybe an attempt to connect to the Latin audience, but they do an extremely poor job of character development. A boy looses his whole family, but he has no reaction other than being happy to be with Brad Pitt, no sign of any sadness for a boy who just lost his entire family. Next they go to Korea (maybe an attempt to connect with the Asian audience) because that was where the first broadcast of the word "Zombie" was used, but they don't really make it a World War type of movie. When they get to Korea, there are no Korean military present. Only the American military is there, this would have been fine if they left out the Koreans altogether and stated they were on a US military base in Korea, but the guy who brought the Zombie disease is a Korean soldier who went AWOL. If it was a Korean soldier who went AWOL, why are the US involved, that would be for the Korean military to deal with. The Physician who treats the Korean soldier is a Korean doctor, so why is he in the US military base passing on the disease. Why is the AWOL soldier and military doctor not in uniform, why were they not in a military hospital, instead they bring the doctor to some location that doesn't look like S. Korea. Did they catch the AWOL soldier in N. Korea? Why would the military doctor come alone without any soldiers. Where are the 800,000 Korean soldiers, why are the US soldiers the only ones alive. They could have made this part a really gritty military tactical World war with the Korean military, the Japanese military and the Chinese military. There was so much potential to really be a World War, you have a zombie breakout your in a country with a huge military/bunkers, with the most modern weapons ready to be used. On top of that they should have went with their original thought in the story line of the disease originating in East Asia. Another potential story line they missed out on. North Korean biological weapon gone bad or the world leaders of Stem Cell research experiment gone bad. (World leaders on stem cell research are S. Korea, Japan, Singapore and USA) There is so much we do not understand about cloning and stem cells. S. Korea is the only nation which markets cloning for the general public, you can have your dog cloned there or make your cloned dog glow in the dark. (This is real, look it up) They could have ran with this type of interesting story line, should people be playing god by experimenting with stem cells or cloning...etc. A lab experiment gone bad would have been an interesting story. Next the UN survivors are mainly on a ship. S. Korea is a peninsula who makes 80% of the world ships (This is real, not a movie plot) They could have added these actual facts to make the story more interesting and have a huge Korean Navy battling it out with zombies, but instead they went with only a hand full of US military guys who are alive and the Asian guy was the one who went AWOL and contracted the disease. Odd, that they wasted so much potential, this region is a powder keg of military activity. Next you have a CIA who is in a Korean jail which happens to be next to the military bases medical center?, and the CIA agent knows what is happening in Israel (But he is in a Jail in Korea). How does he know this (No character development here at all).

Now off to Israel, no reasoning for why they are going to Israel, they just are. Then the movie gets all religious for no reason. There are times when certain Zombie shows have gotten religious/Philosophical, but they did it well. 28 days later and Walking dead are good examples. In Israel they built a wall, no reason why they knew about the Zombie outbreak before it happened and why they built a wall, they just did. Now still not sure why or how Israel connects to Korea, but somehow this movie made non-sense into a story line. In Israel, nothing is explained other than East Asia is not where patient zero originated, they allude to possibly India as being the culprit. They are over run as soon as Brad Pitt shows up. At this point, I don't know where this story is trying to go. You get some religious scenes and we move on. If they followed 28 days later style where they wonder if God has abandoned them or they delve into the philosophical aspect of man and what he will do to survive, become a killer like a zombie to live...etc, then Israel might have had a point, but none of that.

It seemed like 2 different zombie movie styles they were copying and failed at both. 1st was the military vs zombies and the 2nd was a religious/philosophical 28 days later type. They tried to mimic Dead Snow, 28 days later and Walking dead but failed to copy the best parts of these zombie flicks. The last part was actually pretty good. I like suspenseful zombie situations and the last part of the movie did a pretty good job of that, but there are some inconsistencies throughout the movie. Near the end it seemed like the zombies could open the doors to get to the stair ways, but in the beginning the zombies looked like dumb creatures who could not open doors. And in the beginning Brad Pitt got zombie blood on him and did not turn, but in the Lab a researcher gets zombie blood on him from a petri dish and turns, so which is it, does zombie blood turn you or not? And are the zombies not able to open door or can they? If I was to rank this out of See in Theater, Buy DVD, Rent or Pirate Bay. I would give it a solid "Rent" rating.

Update *** Just found out why this movie didn't make sense in some scenes. Apparently, this movie was reworked multiple times and even the ending was changed. That maybe the reason why this movie did not transition from Asia to the Middle East well. In the original version they were going to allude that the disease may have originated in China, that is why when you see the Korea scene, it didn't make sense. A Korean soldier who went AWOL, but is not in military uniform and is not brought back to a hospital on a helicopter, instead the scene has them out in the middle of no where (with Chinese new papers in the background wall) without any military presence and they are not airlifted back to a hospital. (This was supposed to be China) The military physician is also not in military uniform. A 12 minute scene involving Russia was also deleted/edited down because that linked up with China as well. In addition, the CIA agent in jail is at the same facility as the medical area where they were taking care of the infected. That was supposed to be all prisoners and then it would have fit in with why a prisoner and the hospital are in the same room at a military base if the original infected was a Chinese man locked up for further investigation and he turned in the cell area. The studio was afraid they would not be able to market this movie in China if they insinuate that the disease originated there. It was a marketing decision/patch job and the China scene became Korea and we end up watching and thinking that was a weird non-sensical scene. I believe this has happened before with movie studios and there fear of China; the remake of "Red Dawn" was supposed to have China be the invaders, but that movie studio changed the invaders to N. Koreans after they realized, China was not pleased.**
