Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 1 fight card

The boxing saga of Cleveland native and YouTuber Jake Paul continues Saturday night. Paul will put his undefeated streak on the line in a rematch against former MMA star Tyron Woodley.

The pay-per-view’s main card will kick off at 9 p.m. EST. Paul and Woodley expected to make their walks to the ring around midnight. The event will air live on Showtime PPV, which you can watch on Sling.

Paul was initially set to fight Tommy Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury. But the younger Fury was forced to pull out due to an injury. Woodley, who had been lobbying for a rematch (He has the tattoo to prove it) with Paul was able to step in.

Woodley and Paul’s first fight took place in Jake’s native Cleveland and was an entertaining affair. Paul, the more active of the two fighters, earned the split decision win. But it wasn’t without drama as Woodley rocked Paul at one point, nearly securing a knockout.

This time around, if Woodley does knockout Paul, the former UFC champion will earn a $500,000 bonus. However, betting sites see that as unlikely. Paul is a –310 favorite heading tonight’s fight in Tampa with Woodley coming in as a +225 underdog at FanDuel Sportsbook (a draw might be a nice bet as a wager of $100 could win you $1400).

Saturday’s main card will also feature two former stars in their respective sports. Former NFL All-Pro Frank Gore will take on former NBA All-Star Deron Williams in a boxing match. Check out the full fight card, below:

  • Jake Paul -240 vs. Tyron Woodley +200, cruiserweight (eight rounds)
  • Amanda Serrano (c) vs. Miriam Gutierrez, lightweights (10 rounds)
  • Deron Williams vs. Frank Gore, heavyweights (four rounds)
  • Liam Paro vs. Yomar Alamo, junior welterweights (10 rounds)

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley face off ahead of fight

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley takes centre stage tonight but there is a whole lot of action on this card from start to finish.

Of course, all eyes will be on the YouTube star Paul in the main event against ex-UFC champion Woodley but there are potential barnburners up and down the card.

Directly prior to Paul and Woodley stepping in, legendary women's champion Amanda Serrano will take on another world title-winner in Yamileth Mercado.

And elsewhere on the card. former world champion Ivan Baranchyk is in action, as well as the US debuts of Tommy Fury and Daniel Dubois, with an Olympian thrown in for good measure.

Here's our breakdown of the Paul vs Woodley undercard..

Amanda Serrano vs Yamileth Mercado

Amanda Serrano is one of the best women's boxers in the world, and she will be heavily favoured to pick up the win over Yamileth Mercado in an historic co-main event.

Serrano's ferocious knockout power makes her one of the most exciting fighters in men or women's fighting and that power appears to transfer not only between weight classes, but sports as well with the Brooklyn fighter having debuted successfully in MMA.

However, one of the big criticisms surrounding Serrano, as well as a number of top women's fighters, is around the level of opponents, so this level of world champion will be an interesting test for her.

A victory for Serrano would likely set her up for a fight in a few months with Katie Taylor, with Eddie Hearn claiming it could happen in early 2022 once Taylor has beaten a few mandatory challengers.

Daniel Dubois vs Joe Cusumano

Daniel Dubois is expected to stop American heavyweight Joe Cusumano on Sunday night in what may be a sleeper fight for the evening.

Cusumano's last outing was at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles in front of no crowd when he appeared on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr alongside Paul, with both men picking up KO victories.

And the American, who holds a 19-3 professional record, has never been stopped, so expect to Dubois to get a decent test in his American debut.

Dubois returned from his stunning loss to Joe Joyce with a brutal KO of Bogdan Dinu in June, and he'll be looking for another highlight reel finish here.

Monatana Love vs Ivan Baranchyk

If you're a legitimate fight fan, you don't want to miss a single one of these bouts on Sunday night, or Monday morning in the UK.

British fans will remember former world champion Baranchyk from his title fight in Glasgow against Josh Taylor, in which he put up a valiant effort against the now-undisputed champion at super lightweight.

He's since gone 101, including a ridiculously entertaining back-and-forth brawl with Jose Zepeda in Vegas at the tail end of last year, which saw a total of eight knockdowns landed before he was eventually stopped.

This is a tough test for the undefeated local lad Montana Love, but if he can beat a veteran former champ in his hometown, then he will prove he is ready for world level.

Tommy Fury vs Anthony Taylor

This fight is a whole lot more interesting than anybody is giving it credit for.

Tommy Fury, the Love Island star and brother to heavyweight world champion Tyson, is making his United States debut on Sunday night.

And despite the considerable size different between he and MMA veteran Anthony Taylor, the American is not wrong when he says that he has faced tougher opposition than Fury.

Fury will have to dig deeper than he thinks he'll need to to get Taylor out of there, with Jake Paul's sparring partner desperate to finally make a name for himself in combat sports.

If Tommy Fury takes his eye off the ball for a second and concerns himself with his boxing future, he's in for a rude awakening from Anthony Taylor.

Charles Conwell vs Juan Carlos Rubio

This is another really fascinating fight to open up the night on the pre-show.

Conwell is a 2016 Olympian, and has gone unbeaten in his 15 fights since turning pro. He'll face a tough test in Rubio, a game and unbeaten 23-year-old.

Rubio's career has mostly taken place in Mexico, but he has fought in the United States as well and picked up some good wins, so he should be a good test for Conwell in his hometown.
