Krylon tub and tile ultra repair finish reviews

3.0 out of 5 starsDoes work! Not amazing but still much better than before! But hard to clean.

I wish I had a before after picture, but only after pictures, oh well.

It does work, we sprayed it on though we brought the paint version of it, so that it would be more consistent texture. It adds a nice layer of paint glossy on it for sure, which is nice and can make older dirtier tubs refreshed. We left it to dry for 48 hours.

Pros: Refreshes the tub, for a fraction of the cost compared to getting a new tub and tile walls. Different contractors quoted me about $6k-$10k for a new tub and tiling labor and materials but this project cost less than $350 in materials and labor. Much better than before.

Cons: It's not SUPER nice. Don't expect a fancy shower after this, it's not super luxury nice, but it does the job and makes the shower 'not bad'. Some other issues : the texture is a bit rough after application, you need to take fine grain sand paper and run it over a few times to get it to be smoother.

Majorish con: It seems to be hard to clean. I stepped on it with my shoes a few times to paint the ceiling and fix the fixtures a few times, and my shoes aren't that clean but have just some casual dust around the house, and the shoe marks went onto the tub and seems to be extremely hard to get off. I had to scrub multiple times really hard in order to get such residue off, even though it's just a shoe mark. It's kind of annoying really, as I'm concerns later down the line it's going to stain much easier from water and just natural shower grim, etc.

Overall... conflicted. For sure, it's a great option for a nice quick cheap refresh, but the product has me a little annoyed and longing for more.

3.0 out of 5 starsLooks great but doesn't get smooth because of the paint debris.

I used this paint to reglaze my kitchen sink. The color looks amazing. Very natural and smooth. I am still absolutely frustrated because I couldn't get a smooth finish. When spraypainting the paint cloud will contaminate the smooth areas. When you sand it you will open the pores and not have the correct finish. There are always parts that feel like sandpaper. I tried close, far away, and with pauses and using masking. I only achieved a smooth finish on curved areas. What a giant waste of time. I tried 5 coats and the smoothest was when I got the closest and spraypainted without any pauses. I, unfortunately, had drips forming. I tried calling Krylon, but they didn't pick up, I tried writing customer support and they advised me to call them but again nobody picked up. I contacted hardware stores, contractors, and painters, and nobody could help me or give me a tip.

I would say that you have to use a roll-on paint. I would highly advise you to not use a spraypaint after my experience. I can't give it 1 star because it looks good and maybe I couldn't figure it out.
