Leave-in conditioner for permed hair Reddit

Hello everyone this is my first reddit post and I've been tossed around on what the internet has been telling me on if I should use product in my permed hair. The stylist used medium rods in my hair because I wanted to go for a more loose perm. Honestly, I think my perm is in the middle of tight and loose. But anyways, the only product I copped is the Cantu leave-in conditioner and tresemme's flawless curls shampoo and conditioner. I been watching a lot of videos and people are reccommending like 2-3 different types of products after wash day but I read that the more product used, the faster the curls go away. Can anyone assist me on this?

Leave-in conditioner for permed hair Reddit

I just got my hair permed yesterday. I know you're not supposed to shampoo within 48 hrs of perming, but my hair is very frizzy and dry. Can I put in some leave-in conditioner? Would it mess up the shape of my curls?

I'm super late to this thread but I want to add some suggestions because leave-in conditioner is pretty much my favorite hair product type and I have tried so many!!

  • Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Leave-In Cream: this is probably the most solidly moisturizing, softening, conditioning cream I have ever used. A lot of leave-in conditioners IME tend to be more about smoothing the hair and eliminating frizz whereas I feel like this product is purely about moisturizing. I love that. It smells amazing as all Oribe products do, and it works really well on wet or dry hair. Because it moisturizes my hair I do feel like it has a positive effect on frizz as well. And using it on dry hair is really smoothing and adds a lot of shine without weighing hair down. Very expensive, I bought it with Birchbox points and may or may not repurchase depending on how long it lasts.

  • Olaplex 6 leave-in: kind of the opposite of the Oribe in that it is AMAZING at smoothing frizz, especially when I blow dry. The smell is also really nice but in a different way than Oribe (citrus and fresh and clean rather than floral and fruity and sophisticated). Moisturizing? Yeah I guess, but this really wins as a smoothing product. Also good on dry hair. Much cheaper than the Oribe and I use a TINY amount so it's a good value.

  • Aveda Color Conserve leave-in conditioner: a classic in my opinion, definitely makes my hair soft and tangle-free and hydrated. Love the spa-like scents. Good value.

Some I did not really like: Living Proof No Frizz is awful for me, as is It's a 10 Leave-In spray, Aveda Smooth Infusion can be good but can be greasy easily. And Davines love smoothing cream does smooth brings out my waves rather than making my hair sleeker and straighter.

Overall if I had to recommend an all-around winner it would probably be Olaplex 6 because the price is so much more reasonable than Oribe, it helps a lot with frizz, great when you heat style or let your hair air-dry, and you use such a small amount.

Oh and honorable mention to the classic Garnier Sleek and Shine which is honestly pretty good, not as good as the others I mentioned, but it is $3.99 so I buy it too!

Can you put leave

The best way to moisturize permed hair is to use a leave-in conditioner or an oil treatment. Apply the product to damp hair, concentrate on the ends, and then style as usual. You should also try to avoid using heat styling tools as much as possible, or using protective products when you style your hair.

What does leave

Using leave-in conditioner They tame frizz and keep hair strong. They protect hair for blow drying and heat styling. They give dyed and permed hair extra nourishment and stop breakage. And leave-in conditioner is vital to support curly hair's shape, bounce, and texture.

How often should I use leave

Leave-in conditioner This type of conditioner is used to moisturize mild to moderately dry hair and to repair damaged hair. As a general rule, try applying a leave-in conditioner once a week. If your hair is curly, dry, or damaged, you might want to apply it more frequently.

Can you leave conditioner on your curly permed hair?

Although some think that conditioner can relax your perm, it's actually a myth. Conditioner formulated for permed hair will restore moisture and luster to your locks, keep your hair soft, and make your perm last longer. It also helps detangle curls.
