Minecraft realm internal exception java.net.socketexception connection reset

Alright, fellas, it's time we figure out some HARD ANSWERS to the age-old question- what in BLAZES is causing the Realms error "Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"?

Some context:

"Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" is an error that pops up when a user tries to join a Realm (or, I've heard, other online multiplayer servers). The user attempts to join, may be able to enter the Realm for a few seconds/minutes, then they are booted with this error message. I have reports of players being able to join, play for a few minutes, then be kicked, with the server resetting to a few minutes previous, and I've had my personal experience, where I click to enter the world, and before I even get to see it, I see the error screen.

Some history:

Google yields no answers to this question, and it's apparently been around for a while. Mojang Studios troubleshooting forums regularly and perhaps even infamously leave issue submissions unanswered for this issue. I've been reading forum posts as old as 2012 with users getting the error (presumably from multiplayer servers) with no answer. And that's the big, unifying fact of all these threads- there is no real fix for this issue.

Here's a 4 month old Reddit thread that goes down this same rabbit hole- claiming a fix has been found, the comments rebuke it, no solid solution is found: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/nvqicd/how_to_fix_internal_exception/

Some troubleshooting:

I've read all the forum posts, and they all recommend all sorts of different fixes. You see someone post the issue, the next comment says 'try this, worked for me,' then you see three or four comments saying 'nope, doesn't work,' then the thread dies. Years and years and years and yearsof this. And those are the good threads, where fixes are even suggested! As previously mentioned, most threads pose the question, get no response, and the thread gets archived.

I've seen proposals such as:

  • Using different launchers (I tried CurseForge, no luck)

  • Running "ipconfig /flushdns" into your terminal (to no avail)

  • Using a custom installation with the Java Executable set to the most current version of Java (nope)

  • Resetting the wifi router (obviously, and nope)

  • Only playing at night (seriously? and yet, no)

  • Restarting the Realm. Restarting MineCraft. Restarting the computer. (No x3)

Admittedly,Mojang said on Sept. 29th of 2021 that they were aware of 'an issue'. I can only hope that that's this issue, the "Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" issue. Because if it ain't, then the search will continue for who knows how many more years, for a solution to an age old bug.

A quick rant (to make me feel better):

I really pay $8 a month for a 10 person limited server I can't join, huh? I went with a Realm instead of a third party server because it was supposed to be easier, it was supposed to just work.

It's fine. It's fine! It's fine.

It's fine.

Edit: Internet connection is stable. Been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2 recently and it hasn't been an issue!

The issue also appears to be clientside, as I am unable to join the Realm that many of my friends are able to join with no issue.

One very minor and quite silly workaround which may point to a cause of the issue is that if, upon joining a server, I look straight up, I am (sometimes) able to load in. I believe this is because if I can't see the chunks around me, they don't load, and the stress is less? I'm not sure.

Anyways, a real solution is yet to be found. I wish all of us who share this problem luck!

When I try to connect with any Realm, it kicks me out after maybe 30 seconds. "Internal Exception: java. net. SocketException: Connection Reset" appears on the screen.
I tried a few fixes, like changing the DNS server and renewing the system's IP. The OpenJDK Platform binary is allowed through the firewall, I don't have Hamachi or any kind of VPN and antiviruses, I also tried reducing render distance. Can't change to the previous release, because the Realms are on 1.18. Reinstalled Java, and Minecraft a couple of times. I have a PC, which doesn't have a wireless network interface card, so can't connect to the hotspot, but my Internet connection is stable: ping 12-17ms, download 89Mb/s, and upload 50Mb/s. Nothing works.
I've seen the MC-227913 issue, did everything, still doesn't work.
