What percentage of a sentence must be served in Missouri?

1994: “Truth in Sentencing” Act passed, therefore individuals convicted of a Class A felony must serve 85% of their sentence before being parole eligible. This is also known as the 85% Law.

Can you get off probation early in Missouri?

Yes. Missouri law gives judges the authority to release defendants from probation early. (Generally, to be released from probation early you have to pay off your fines, complete at least half of your probation and complete all court ordered classes and treatment.)

How can I get off parole early in Missouri?

The granting of an Early Discharge rests primarily with the sentencing Court or the Parole Board. The Court may consider an Early Discharge for offenders that comply with their supervision conditions. The Parole Board can do this as well after the offender has completed three years of supervision in the community.

Can you leave the state on probation in Missouri?

All travel outside the State of Missouri must be approved in advance by your Probation and Parole Officer. If approved, a written travel permit must be issued to you by your Probation and Parole Officer.
