New vegas cant start new game

Q: Does Fallout: New Vegas ever end?

Of course, the strength of Fallout New Vegas is that theres no right ending - and thanks to the FPGE mod, you can get a sense of what sits best with you.

Like the title says, I am unable to select new game on the main menu. After I click "yes" it just takes me back and does nothing. I can load my other save game just fine, but clicking new game does nothing. (PC)

There don't seem to be that many threads about this, and all I seem to find are the usual "crashing on startup, halp pls" threads that are easily solved most of the time. Someone suggested deleting autosaves, so I've tried moving my saves away from the folder, but it does nothing.

Any ideas? Because I sure am out of them :/ (other than reverting to completely vanilla, but I'd like to avoid that.. it's a pain in the ass to get the load order right again even with merge patching)

I can't start new games.

I start up Fallout new vegas, i click "new game", the game asks if im sure, i click yes, and it brings me back to the main menu. I tried this multiple times to make sure i wasn't messing something up. i also tried after disabling all my mods, and that didn't work either. any fixes?

New game not starting.

I've played Fallout NV for years and only have a small bit of mods on the computer for the game and my computer specs are far above the requirments, so I don't think the mods are the problem. I get to the main menu, go to new game, slecet yes to start new game and nothing happens. I click it again and still nothing happens. The game doesn't freeze, lag, or go black, just nothing happens. Unfortunately I can't fire up an old save because I don't have any old files. I'd rather not re-download the game because I have a super slow download speed,otherwise I would have done so already, but if it comes to that then I will. Thank you.

whenever i click new game it says "will overwrite auto save if present, continue?" or whatever it says and when i click yes it acts like i clicked no. i have a save at the start of the game but i have some mods that require a new game.

i tried turning off all mods but same result.

Have you tried moving your saves to another folder? Since you're starting a new game and all, it doesn't matter if you have saves already or not, right?

moved all my saves to another folder, nothing changed (except it couldn't find the saves)

ok, i verified my game chache and it fixed 2 files, it's working now.
