If you have questions about your insurance coverage, please contact us at (212) 746-5161. We are available from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday to address your billing questions.

To help us assist you in the most efficient way, please have the following items on hand when you call:

  • Copy of your insurance card(s), specifying your primary and any supplemental insurance
  • Copy of your bill (if you have already been cared for by us as a patient)
  • Copies of any correspondence from your insurance company (for established patients)
  • Appropriate referral forms and/or pre-authorization approvals relating to your visit. Please contact your carrier to confirm if prior approval is required under your policy.

You will receive invoices from Weill Cornell Physicians for your physician's services and from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital for your hospital stay and any other hospital services.

All our physicians in our Division accept Medicare and participate in most major insurance plans in New York. Be sure to verify that our physician is a current provider in your plan and whether a referral or authorization is required. 

Our staff are experienced in this process and will be able to assist you. 

You will be responsible for any co-payment or payment of any non-covered services at the time of your visit. 

Cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express are recognized forms of payment.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center offers all residents the option to reside in hospital-owned apartments located on York Avenue directly across the street from the hospital. The modern luxury apartments are offered at a reduced rate that is considered superior to that offered by other medical centers in New York City.

East Campus

NewYork-Presbyterian owns and leases 1,400+ residential apartments located in close proximity to the East Campus on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (primarily a residential neighborhood). Our buildings are within walking distance of Central Park and the East River Promenade and to all types of stores and restaurants in the neighborhood.

NewYork-Presbyterian Real Estate

We are also convenient to mass transportation (the Lexington Avenue subway line, the Second Avenue subway, uptown, downtown and crosstown buses). For car travel, the FDR Drive offers easy accessibility to and from the East Campus to the West Campus and out of the city. Nine additional Pre-War properties are available from 70th Street to 75th Street and York Avenue.

GME Benefit Choices

Medical, Rx and Vision Plans

You have the choice of either the Aetna EPO (all services in-network) or POS (out-of-network services allowed) plans. Refer to the Medical Plan section for details.

Dental Plans

We offer a choice of three (3) dental plans; Aetna DMO Dental, Aetna PPO, and the Columbia Dental Plan. Refer to the Dental Plan section for details.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Participating in a Flexible Spending Account allows you to reduce your taxable income and provides reimbursement for eligible expenses for Heath Care, Dependent Care, Mass Transit and Commuter Parking. If you use Hospital parking, you are not eligible to enroll in the Commuter Parking FSA. For FSA enrollment instructions, click here. To enroll in an FSA account, use the Wageworks website at www.wageworks.com.

Short-Term Disability

You are automatically eligible for state mandated Short-Term Disability benefits through New York State. This benefit can provide you with up to $170 per week until you are no longer disabled or up to 26 weeks; whichever occurs first.

Life Insurance Plans

Supplemental Life Insurance: As a complement to the 100% Hospital-paid Life Insurance policy for $100,000, you can purchase additional coverage.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance: This coverage provides you with benefits (amount of the benefits payment depends on the severity of the injury), if the injury results in your accidental death or dismemberment.

Spouse Life Insurance: This plan provides you with the ability to insure your legally married spouse. If both you and your spouse are benefit-eligible employees of NewYork-Presbyterian, neither of you are eligible to enroll for Spouse Life Insurance.

Child Life Insurance: This plan provides you with the ability to insure your unmarried dependent child(ren). If both parents are benefit-eligible employees of NYP, dependent child(ren) can only be insured by one parent. See Eligibility section for details about dependent children and who is eligible for coverage in the NYP benefit plans.

Long-Term Disability (LTD) 

The hospital provides you with a benefit equal to 60% of your pre-disability monthly earnings to a maximum of $10,000. Benefit payments commence after you have been disabled for 180 consecutive days.

Hyatt Legal Plan

In addition to services such as family law, immigration law and real estate matters, the Hyatt Legal Plan can assist you with concerns such as debt collection defense, estate planning and traffic and criminal matters. For further information go to www.legalplans.com.

ASPCA Pet Insurance

NYP employees who enroll in the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan will receive a 5 percent discount on the base premium.
