What does a hairless mole rat look like?

Naked mole-rats have wrinkly pink or grayish-pink skin, which is somewhat translucent on their undersides and light purplish-brown on their backs and tails. This countershading appears to be lost with advanced age.

Can mole rats live in your house?

It is unusual to find a mole in the house, but it does happen. Moles create complex tunnels underground, preferring the loose dirt of well-tended yards and gardens. While digging, the pests may get into homes through damaged basement windows or foundation cracks near the soil line.

Are mole rats harmful?

Moles are not dangerous to people. They are, however, dangerous to the lawn and landscapes that they are invading. They can cause significant, costly damage to the root system of grasses and ornamental plants as they create their tunnels and forage for food.

Where does a mole rat live?

Naked mole rats live underground in the dry, arid regions of Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya. These unique animals are rodents, but they are more closely related to porcupines and guinea pigs than they are to either moles or rats.
