With all the rumored behind-the-scenes drama at The Today Show, none of which has been proven, and in fact has mostly be laughed off by hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, it’s (un)reasonable to think that Guthrie might be leaving the series. After all, she’s been off on a vacation for the past week and a half. At the end of August? Who does that??? With that in mind, Today’s Toadies (what we Today Show fans call our fanbase) have been buzzing about how Guthrie might leave The Today Show if things go south. So, here are three top fan theories from the Today’s Toadies fan forum about how it might all go down. Theory #1: They’re Going To Kill Savannah Guthrie Off In The Season FinaleIf you’re gonna go out, go big. And what better way to do that than kill Savannah Guthrie off The Today Show in an epic season finale. Though it’s unclear exactly how that might go down, maybe they could pay off that long-running, definitely real “Hoda Kotb hunting Savannah Guthrie for sport” storyline. Though frankly, if they go that route, my money is a classic Sherlock Holmes/Moriarty ending, where they fall off a cliff together. That would effectively kill off both hosts, but also leave room for a surprise return in later seasons. Theory #2: She’s Leaving For a Spinoff Titled The Today Show: SVUOn the other hand, Guthrie is too popular to kill off the franchise… So why not extend it, instead? Give her a spinoff like The Today Show: SVU, where she explore cooking segments that are considered particularly heinous in the daytime talk show system. Alternately, you could have her leave for a show called The Today Show: Tomorrow, where she predicts stories that will be breaking on the subsequent day, like that magical cat who brought people newspapers on Early Edition. You all get that reference, right? Cool. Theory #3: Savannah Guthrie Is Leaving The Today Show, But They’re Replacing Her With an Identical, Slightly Larger Savannah GuthrieAlso known as the “Bigger Savannah” theory, it’s entirely possible that Guthrie will leave the series, only to be replaced by an identical, slightly larger Savannah Guthrie. That way, The Today Show can continue on, while the “real” Guthrie can go live the rest of her life in peace, and not have to worry about completely unhinged and baseless theory posts about her job.

She shared a few more pictures of her outside with fans, smiling in the sunshine, and with a mic in her hand as she stood in front of a camera. The final photo saw Savannah standing alone in the indoor set, with her back to the camera. “I assume you are leaving the show based on your recent posts,” one fan commented. Another wondered if Dylan Dreyer will be taking “Savannah’s place” on the show. Over the past few weeks, fans have noticed that Savannah has been sharing a bunch of slideshows of photos from her time on the show. You need to go.” A third said TODAY used to be their “favorite morning show” but it has since become “hard to watch.” “I'm so sick of Savannah Guthrie being rude, loud, always interrupting and talking over everyone,” the Twitter user continued. “Love everyone on the show but she needs to GO!” A fourth wrote: “Savannah is rude and disrespectful just to be heard.” While viewers are saying Savannah often interrupts others on the show, they specifically pointed out a time she did so last month with co-host Carson. He shot the camera a frustrated look as she cut him off as he tried to give his monologue on pop culture news for the day. Fans have even been threatening to boycott the morning show, unless Savannah is either let go or she changes her behavior.
