As said in my previous 'Scooby Doo Where are You' reviews, 'Scooby Doo Where are You' still holds up as the best of the numerous incarnations of the immensely popular franchise, of which "Which Witch is Which" is one of my favourites. Show The swamp setting is incredibly atmospheric, with the colours and level of detail gone into it it is up there as one of the creepiest settings on the show. "Which Witch is Which" is also advantaged by agreed two great villains that add hugely to the episode's appeal. The witch is very well designed and effectively menacing, but the zombie is even more memorable, the design is freaky but he is so much fun. The identity of the perpetrator is not really that much of a surprise, but to be honest there are far more obvious reveals and often with villains not as interesting. Like with the best of Scooby Doo, it isn't just the atmosphere and creepiness that makes "Which Witch is Witch" so worthwhile. 'Scooby Doo Where Are You' is always high in the fun factor, and "Which Witch is Which" has fun in bucket-loads, with Shaggy's witch impersonation, the Jelly Beans gag and card game being the funniest gags and also three of the entire show's funniest moments. The dialogue is vintage Scooby Doo, with the best lines coming from Shaggy. The story has continuous energy and atmosphere, and is never confusing or too obvious, and the final trap is creative enough. Shaggy and Scooby never fail to bring a smile to my face, likewise with their ceaselessly charming chemistry, and Fred, Velma and Daphne are no less enjoyable either. As always, Don Messick, Casey Kasem and Frank Welker stand out of the voice acting, Messick and Kasem are without equal as Scooby and Shaggy and one cannot believe that it's been nearly 50 years and Welker's still voicing Fred with no signs of fatigue or inconsistency. The animation is lively, atmospheric, lushly coloured and nicely drawn as always. The music adds to the impact the atmosphere creates, and it is very difficult to resist the classic theme song, along with the opening credits where it is so fun spotting and recognising the villains, that is one of the most iconic in animation. All in all, wonderful episode and always has been a personal favourite. 10/10 Bethany Cox This article is about the episode. Which Witch is Which? is the thirteenth episode of the first season of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! PremiseAfter coming home from a fishing trip, the gang run into a witch and a zombie who have been haunting the swamp and scaring everyone off. SynopsisFred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby are returning from a failed fishing trip and take a shortcut through a dark, creepy swamp. They pull over to ask for directions from a man with a lantern on the side of the road, but it appears the man is a zombie! The gang speed away and find a general store. Inside, is a man named Zeke who tells them that the zombie was conjured up by a witch that is supposed to live in the swamp with her magical voodoo powers. Zeke says that he and his partner Zeb Perkins saw her conjuring the zombie, while hunting frogs in the swamp six months ago. Shaggy and Scooby head to the house of Zeb Perkins, to try to find clues. (Fred, Daphne and Velma stay to fix the mess Scooby made after a run-in with some jumping beans). They find a voodoo doll of Zeb in his bed and fearing the worst, they hurry back and tell the others. They get in a boat and follow the witch and the zombie on another boat through the swamp until they reach the witch's shack. Upon entry, they find voodoo dolls for the whole gang! But when Shaggy thinks he has been "voodood" by Scooby, he had actually just backed into a fork. Then, the witch arrives and scolds them for ignoring the warning signs and makes Daphne vanish with a poof of smoke. But soon after, they realize she just fell through a trapdoor. The rest of the gang follow footprints to a large river boat anchored at the shore. Resting on the shore is the witch and zombie's boat and they have been using a steel-tipped pole to move through the water. Why? They enter the riverboat and split up, leading Shaggy and Scooby to find the zombie, who chases them into the old saloon before they managed to escape. Velma and Fred find a secret room with a winch, some power tools, and a sheet covered bundle inside. Thinking it's a ghost they pull off the sheet and find a bound and gagged Daphne, whom they quickly free. The witch appears and chases the trio down a coal chute. Scooby and Shaggy encounter the witch and the zombie, who trapped them and forced them to jump off the side of the boat until they crash through the deck of the bottom floor into the room where Velma, Fred and Daphne are. They find a motorboat and speed away. The witch appears and flies towards the gang, but it is just a rubber balloon, which is what made the "witch" fly. As they are speeding away, the throttle gets stuck and they can't stop. Scooby anchors the boat, but the anchor lifts up a robbed armored truck that had been sunk in the swamp, and it's loaded with money! The mystery is starting to piece together. They devise a trap to capture the witch and zombie. Shaggy and Scooby dress up in money sacks and then lure the witch and zombie to a tripwire and they promptly fall into a rolling cart and into the armored truck where Velma and Daphne close the doors. It starts to work but Scooby falls into the trap as well. They manage to hook him with a fishing rod and pull him out, just as the witch and zombie roll into the truck. The zombie and witch are unmasked as Zeke and Zeb, who had robbed the armored truck and sunk it in the swamp years before. Now, they couldn't remember where they sunk it, so they searched the swamps with that iron-tipped pole and dressed up as the witch and zombie to scare intruders away so that they could look for it. When they would have found the truck, they would use the winch to pull it out. The witch used smoke bombs for the vanishing act. Mystery Inc. go back on the road, and Scooby goes back to fishing in his bucket of water (with bait attached to his tail, instead of a proper fishing line). Fred tells him to give up, but low and behold, he pulls out a fish! The rest of the gang cheer and laugh at his achievement. CharactersMain characters:
