This is by far the best DVD we bought for our baby. She loves it & watches it everyday. The music is really entertaining.

This wasn't at all what I was expecting or hoping for, even after reading the reviews (good and bad) here at Amazon.

Usually, I love Sesame Street. Sure, I prefer the "classic" stuff from when I was growing up, but I have no problem enjoying the new stuff with my son today. This video seemed to be a mix of both and I figured...okay, I'll really enjoy the older stuff, my 18 month old son will love the newer more familiar stuff, and it will be a good way for me to expose him to the older stuff in small doses and see if he likes it.

I don't know what the producers thought they were doing but they certainly didn't provide a collection of songs, new or old. Large portions of this video are presented in what is basically a medley with extremely abrupt scene changes from one song to the next. Much, much worse....these songs were then butchered. While I certainly didn't expect an extended version of "Put Down the Duckie" (ala "Sing Yourself Silly"), I did expect better than for them to cut into the song right in the middle, sing two verses, and then skip into the next song! They started "Do De Duck" three-quarters of the way into the song, etc., etc.

Perhaps there are people out there who want to see bits and pieces of Sesame Street songs. I'm not one of them. I'd have much rather seen a few less songs in their entirety than have them try to cram 25+ songs into 60 minutes by cutting out large portions of them.

More importantly, it wasn't just me. My 18 month old usually loves Sesame Street music videos (we have a number of others). The abrupt scene changes seemed to really confuse him/scare him. He also kept leaving the room which he never does on the first viewing of a new video; he's usually too excited.

Finally, I have absolutely no problem with Sesame Street wanting to make the video multi-cultural. But to me, "multi" means "many." On this video, absolutely every single musical interlude between the songs (basically, the music which predominates the alleged plot in the background) is African-themed. That's not showing many cultures; that's showing one. If they'd like to produce an African-themed video -- great! (I would strongly consider buying it). But I didn't appreciate it on a music video which is supposed to be a celebration of Sesame Street's 25 years of music. Has Sesame Street had African and African-American themed music over the years? Of course! And it should definitely have been included. But I have no idea why Sesame Street was briefly transported from an American inner-city neighborhood to Africa for the duration of this video.

So....I didn't get any classic songs that I could enjoy, OR any newer songs that my son could enjoy, mainly because they were all butchered. Scenes changed from one to the next like a bad acid trip. And the background "plot" is inexplicably African. Not what I wanted or expected. Frankly, it's simply not what's advertised.

This tape came quickly and was exactly as described. It is somewhat difficult to find in this format, so was very happy with the transaction and result.

We went through a lot of Sesame Street DVD's before finding the one that my children loved and this is it! We watch it daily and it is by far my favorite as well, including so many classics that I remember growing up. The songs are loved by my kids as they sing along with the monsters and filled with colors, shapes, letters, and so much more. This is highly recommended and I actually hope to hold onto this one for many years to come!

I guess I was more hopeful about this movie than my son was excited to watch it. He didn't give a rat's a** about it. The movie was fine. It just wasn't his Toy Story movie. Sigh.

Both my toddler and I loved this video. For my toddler, it has several advantages: one, it's an hour long and can replace Sesame Street itself if you missed it that day (just get an Elmo's World tape to follow up). Two, it has a full cast that includes the newer characters who weren't around in my day: Elmo, Telly, Prairie Dawn and many others make an appearance. Third, the celebrity cameos are few and serve the storyline well.
As a former puppeteer and avid Sesame Street fan, I really enjoyed watching it myself. It has old clips that have almost disappeared: the original "Rubber Ducky" with the floating bubbles, "C is for Cookie," "I'm an Aardvark, and I'm proud," and some of the letter and number clips you might remember as a kid. I also liked that the storyline was filmed outdoors, making the production values somewhat better than other Sesame Street videos. Having a store of all the "important" songs is really useful, too.
Enjoy this video with your kids - and tell them about the "olden days" when Snuffy was an imaginary friend of Big Bird's and Ernie grew critters - what were those things called? - in his window box.

I gave this one a 5 star review because me 1 1/2 year old son loves it and this is his first real introduction to Seasame Street minus some songs he had on his IPod. It has a lot of the videos I remember from a child, including the Batty Bat song, C is For Cookie, and the Monster in the Mirror. It is missing some of my other favorites, and I was disappointed that they did a arrangement of Rubbie Duckie songs rather than showing the entire videos. Those are some of the best songs....yes, they focus on Rubber Duckies, but they are so good!!! So 5 Star rating by my son, but I hope they make a new one of these and play out all the Rubber Duckie videos as well as some of the other favs like 'But I Like You' and 'New Way to Walk.'

As a grandmother, I'm getting a second round of Sesame Street (which I always loved when my own kids were small). This particular DVD is adorable. It has all the classic songs I (amazingly) still remember the words to: Rubber Ducky, Sing, I love trash, C is for cookie, Sing, and many more. They are woven together in a loose plot of looking for performers for a show Big Bird wants to put on, but it is basically a collection of songs and lively dance performances which keep the little ones riveted.

It is longer than most DVD's which last about a half-hour. This one is a full hour, so you probably won't watch the whole thing in one sitting. It has all the classic characters and a couple that weren't there when I stopped watching, but are equally charming. It's fast-paced, upbeat, funny, colorful, & entertaining. If you are starting a collection of videos, The Sesame Street 25th Birthday Musical Celebration is, without doubt, the one to get first.

1.0 out of 5 stars UK buyer's. Don't bother.

US imports don't work on UK dad's. This isn't made clear when purchasing. Paying postage to return it to get your money back is not really an option. Very disappointed 😞

I didn't know what to expect when ordering this DVD. I wanted my son to get to know the old sesame street characters that i always loved and thought it would be fun with music as a background. This is a wonderful dvd with a little story built around old music clips from throughout the years. I am embarassed to say that the finale with everyone singing "sing" (the la la song) brings me to tears everytime :) Oh and my son LOVES IT too! lol
