About The Silence of the Lambs

Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI’s training academy. Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Silence of the Lambs Disney Plus

CLARICE, the highly anticipated new drama from acclaimed executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, and starring Rebecca Breeds in the title role, will debut Thursday, Feb. 11 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. CLARICE is a deep dive into the untold personal story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field in 1993, one year after the events of "The Silence of the Lambs." Brilliant and vulnerable, Clarice's bravery gives her an inner light that draws monsters and madmen to her. However, her complex psychological makeup that comes from a challenging childhood empowers her to begin to find her voice while working in a man's world, as well as escape the family secrets that have haunted her throughout her life. Clarice is the latest addition to the Hannibal Lecter/Clarice Starling franchise that is perhaps best known from the acclaimed 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs. The new CBS series is set one year after the events of the film with Clarice Starling (here played by Rebecca Breeds) being called back to Washington D.C. to investigate a new potential serial killer.

Since the series is directly related to The Silence of the Lambs, it stands to reason that many viewers might want to rewatch the movie to refresh their memories of the horrors of Buffalo Bill. Clarice will be dealing with the trauma of what happened with Bill throughout the season and the show doesn’t shy away from making references to the film.

Even Bill’s dog, Precious makes an appearance, and Catherine Martin, the only woman to escape the killer with Clarice’s help, also plays an important role in the show. So there are a lot of reasons one might consider revisiting the 1991 film. Or maybe you just want to rewatch it because it’s a horror classic.
