I graduated from the Army's Advanced Individual Training from here. A very pleasant atmosphere fit to hold the graduation ceremony🎓 of about 80 to 120 trainees. The facilities were top notch, carpeted, clean restrooms, loud 📢🔊 speaker systems, and so much more. Not to mention the staff there were nothing but friendly and welcoming.

This location has all kinds of souvenirs that relate to the corps of engineers of the army. Bought a couple of coffee mugs for my son and I. They have coins, caps, water bottles, t-shirts, and others that you can either collect or for your use. Prices were modest.

Uranus Fudge Factory And General Store

Slide 1 of 3

I drove past this one of a kind Fudge Factory over a year ago at night. We had passed many of their hilarious billboards and were greeted by many neon lights heralding us to stop but we didn't have time, and I'm not sure it was open at the time. Driving across country this time I knew we just had to stop. As you can see from all of the photos they have put a lot into attracting visitors to take some time to check out the site. When you walk into the store you are happily greeted by many employees who say: Thanks for entering Uranus. When you leave they say: Thanks for picking Uranus. And of course they have many varieties of fudge (billboards state: the best fudge comes from Uranus 😂), along with postcards, magnets, decals and countless items to commemorate your visit. I highly doubt you'll find another stop like this one in your travels!

We wanted a fun place to stop on our way home. This place was it! They had a sideshow museum with a lot of mummified creatures and various oddities. Then we want to the general store and it was way bigger than I thought. They have a fudge counter, novelty candies, Rt66 drinks, magnets,t-shirts fishing stuff. It is nice place to stretch your legs, have some fudge, do a little shopping in Uranus. We. bought 3 pounds of fudge at Uranus and I ordered online at Christmas as well. They have the best rocky road fudge and so many other kinds to choose from. I will be back for Uranus fudge!!!😄

What a fun spot! Everyone was so nice and cracking jokes. If you like to laugh this place is for you. The sideshow museum was definitely strange and interesting. $6 for entrance. Totally worth it. Had a fun time. Im glad I got to finally drive through at a decent hour to check it out. If you make it to the area you should stop and check it out.

I'm actually here right now and it's pretty darn awesome!! Big, a little maze like but I like that aspect and they do give you a map. Also, they have a camera and button/buzzer system so if you do get lost you don't have to stay that way for long! Best part of the button/buzzer deal is it's not just for lost folk. If you have a question or need assistance with an item you just push the button and someone shows up! The big department stores seem to have forgotten this little trick to having excellent customer service. The people here are super cool too. They're down down home country folks, like me, and shoot, I feel almost like family now! Love this place! Now I gotta get my wife outta here before I need to go on Craig's List and sell a kidney to pay the bill!! God bless!!

We found this place on our way back from Joplin. Love it! However, yesterday we experienced less than friendly service. The girl at the checkout charged us for an item that didn't exist. She couldn't produce the tags for the items we bought, but she had the one handy for the item we didn't buy. Hmmm. An apology would have been nice.

Don't bother wasting your time here since you can't bring your purse in with you. While driving through Missouri we spotted this cute Antique towne. As we entered we were approached by a lady telling us that they have a new policy & I had to lock my purse up in one of their lockers. (I see now from other posts that their ridiculous policy is at least a year old) We turned around and left the store. I was not going to leave my purse in the car & I was not going to leave it in their locker for me to worry about someone stealing my purse. I was really in the mood to buy something, but I guess they didn't want my honest $$$$.

The wine is delicious! Just as importantly, the staff is amazing, I haven’t met anyone so nice. Such a gem we found in our travels cross country. Worth the stop. The sparkling blush is amazing if you like a sweet bubbly. Thanks for the hospitality st. James!!!

I've stopped here for many years on my travels via I-44. My parents used to stop here when I was a kid traveling with them. Just stopped again the other day. Friendly staff that helps you find what you need, great wine and other merchandise. Very clean restrooms to. Enjoy wine, beer, meat, and cheeses. Enjoy!

This place is great. The grounds are always nice, and it's right off the highway which is nice. As you can pick up what you want, and get right back on the road. They have a various selection of wine which makes it easy for both my wife, and myself to find wines that each of us enjoy.

Maramec Spring Park

Historic park named for a freshwater spring, offering seasonal camping, fishing & 2 museums.

Slide 1 of 3

On this journey to Maramec Springs, our main goal was to feed the fish. And the kids were extremely satisfied. They have fish food feeders at the park so bring some quarters. They are a few around the walkway. The fish are very abundant. The water is beautiful and the current is rapid. They do have a museum you can visit. But sadly it was closed by the time we got back to the parking lot. I would love to go back again and check out the rest of the park.

A shady place to stroll along the springs trail, feed a hungry fish from the little food dispensers (which the kids loved), a place to fish for a while, then check out their historic buildings, and tour a couple of nice museums. Note: the Agriculture Museum has a little area you may purchase Ice Cream Bars, Fudge Bars, several types of sodas, candy, and a nice variety of frozen treats! It's located nearby the play park area for the children, some restroom facilities, and a nice shelter house we used for our picnic. We even found a few Morel mushrooms peeking out...and a hillside full of daffodils...so beautiful! We had a great time here!

As a park, this is a great place to take the fam. The steam is beautiful, the pavilions are nice, super accessible paths. I enjoyed the hatchery area and spring the most. 5 out of 5. The fishing isn't as nice. Due to it's proximity to St. Louis you get a lot of weekend warriors and the entire stream can be walked in about 10 minutes. It's very accessible for anyone that needs accomodations, so that is really cool. I just don't like fishing in view of 50 other people. On this trip the water was a little high and moving strong. 2 out of 5 for fishing. Overall, good. Will cost you $5 to get in to the park per car.

Slide 1 of 3

Worth the drive! The mill and grounds are beautifully kept. Our guide turned the machinery on for us to see how it works and is very knowledgeable about it’s history. Website states only 4 visitors at a time for 10 minutes. We were the only people there so she let us look as long as we wanted. We went at 10 AM. Sun was in perfect place for pictures. They have picnic tables, bbq grills, benches and vault toilets. Great place to have a family picnic. No swimming or wading allowed in the water. Thank you Missouri for preserving this historic place.

This place is gorgeous! It is a real historic gem, one of the few remaining mills and the machinery still runs. The SHS hosts were super!!

Beautiful park! Hiking trail, restrooms, tours of the mill.

This is our 2nd time dining here. Came out for their all you can eat fried chicken or roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Homemade mash potatoes with pan drippings gravy, vegetables, salad and roll with a choice of brownie, carrot cake or gooey butter cake for dessert. It was delicious.. the gravy was like my mother use to make when she made fried chicken.

January 2022: It was cold outside when my party arrived. And it was so cold INSIDE the seating area that we all had to wear our coats. (every tables patrons also wore their coats). I was tempted to ask them to charge an extra $10 and turn the heat on/up, but didn't. I'm not sure if they intentionally got my order wrong so save money (bringing out a chicken wing when a chicken breast was requested in the "all you can eat chicken dinner", but they did bring out the requested item when asked a second time. The chicken was fully cooked, but not crispy, and the skin was too rubbery to consume. The mashed potatoes and salad were both good. The server never asked what two of us wanted to drink and just brought water. As this was a celebration gather, i did not mention any of this, but still left a 30% tip. This could be a great place to dine, but it wasn't during my sole visit. Will I re-visit? Probably not.

A group of us went out for dinner and the entire experience was great from start to finish. The filet I had was done perfectly and the sides were good and hot. The meal comes with a choice of desserts which were all good. I found a great sweet red wine that I liked.

Onondaga Cave State Park

State park

Nature & Parks

Caverns & Caves

A massive cave (with guided tours) is a main draw of this woodland with a lake, river & campsite.

Slide 1 of 3

One of the best caves in Missouri. Good trails, nice gift shop, and good mini museum.

I visited Saturday, July 10, 2021 and visited Cathedral and Onondaga Caves. I purchased tickets to both at the visitor’s center, which opened promptly at 10am. Both caves tours were guided and extraordinary. I am so glad I visited. The Cathedral Cave was limited to 15 people as of now and there are only 2 tours on Weekend days. Cathedral Cave is not lit and you are provided a flashlight. The formations were phenomenal. Onondaga is more touristy with lighting and better walkways. Wear boots for the slippery floors and take a sweater for both. It was a great way to get out of the heat in the summer. Would go again.

The cave tour was great. My son and I loved the history and learning about the formations. The tour was about an hour and a half and took us pretty deep into the cave. The cave can only be toured with a bought tour. Wear sneakers, it will be cool as well. Bring a sweatshirt.

Bass' River Resort

Resort hotel

Outdoor Activities

Relaxed wilderness resort with a pool, rafting, horseback riding & other river & trail activities.

Slide 1 of 3

We tent 🏕 camped and had a blast. Staff was great, everyone was friendly. Bathrooms were clean which was very impressive considering we were there for an event with over 2000+ people. Definitely would stay there again.

Due to a torrential downpour Bass called off floating for the day. Understandable. However, they do not refund and you have to complete some process to get a voucher. We also had to leave quite early as our campsite might flood. Understandable. Annnd we also ordered pizza which was never delivered so we went up and asked and they said they couldn't deliver. They had just delivered to our neighbors. Also, during the torrential downpour they did not close the low water bridge, which already had water over it a few inches high. A Chevy Equinox decided to go for it and went of the side. Both passengers were able to escape, but the vehicle set for quite some time blocking the road. I would think as a business with a river running through it, you might fix that bridge so that it's not always under water and also a scary death trap if you get sucked under while swimming.

This place isn't bad, however it really is mostly for getting drunk during the summer, then floating down the river, and that's not my cup of tea. There are no real trails to hike on, the campsites are loud during busy months, and crowded, but even when it's not busy or when your staying in the quiet sections, each campsite is very open, and I prefer more trees and nature in between the campsites, for at least some privacy, and for the amount it costs, I expected more. Not a horrible place, just not my kind of campsite/resort.

Meramec State Park

State park centered around the Meramec River, which also offers naturalist-led tours of Fisher Cave.

Slide 1 of 3

This is a lovely State Park with nice, clearly blazed walking trails. The bigger cave is closed for the season and most of the smaller ones are closed due to wns but it's fun to see the outside of them. Even though it's winter, there are still many beautiful sights to see. From Pine Forests to ferns peeking out below a blanket of leaves, there's something everywhere you look.

Had a wonderful time here. They have back in spots mostly so be prepared to back up. No water at the RV spots but there are many places to fill up before you park. It's a very long drive from the entrance of the park to the campground but it was beautiful. 9/10 would definitely recommend. It gets really busy on the weekends so if you want quiet go during the week

During winter months, you must fill your water tank at the entrance of the campground or near dump station. Make sure to check the website for water location. Meramac is close to a lot of amenities. It has a nice campground.

Caverns & Caves

Caverns with unique, colorful mineral formations, with guided tours, zipline rides & a gift shop.

Slide 1 of 3

We had a good time. Your was informative and entertaining. Tour guide was pleasant and humorous. They have treats and souvenirs. Just about any age can go through the cavern tour. You do need to be physically able to stand/walk for at least 45-50 minutes without taking a break. Also have to climb stairs without assistance. Bring a rescue inhaler if you have asthma as a precaution. The last leg of the caverns has a steep staircase to climb and the air is thick/hotter at the top. It’s not a difficult climb, but it was enough to make my asthma flare up. Wear shoes with traction. Some areas are slick. It is one of those places you wanna check off your bucket list.

A great stop if you're in the St. Louis area. The caverns are very cool and interesting. The walk is pretty easy and the different cave formations are just awesome. The tour guides are very informative and the place is absolutely kid friendly. Enjoy the tour!

The cavern tour was a lot of fun! Some unique formations and the tour guide we had nailed the right humor and knowledge mix. We also did the riverboat ride which was nice on the warm day we visited and our guide there was super nice and laid back. Highly recommend stopping by here and enjoying what they have on offer!

Stop by for a tasting. Oh yeah! Went with the whiskey. So now we have to go back to try the gin and vodka. One word to describe it......excellent!!

Amazing distillery. They make gin, whiskey and a vodka. And many speciality batches. Like navy strength gin, hibiscus, oak aged. And whiskey they have a stout barrel, heirloom corn, Sherry cask, etc. So many changing options. And the tasting was great! Very educational. And a great value. 5 tastes for $ 15. Highly recommend!

If you like whiskey, gin, and vodka this is your place. What a great place! Go in for a fun treat. The people that work here are fun. I had a great time and got to sample a lot of different things. If you are in the area go in and give it a try. Keith is awesome. This is another place where I wish I could give more stars. It is a matter of time before this place is going to explode with business. Make sure you try the special drinks!

Slide 1 of 3

We had so much fun here, what a blast! It was so exciting to see all of the animals and feed them, many were hungry!! They race their cute little selves to the fence to get food which was adorable. We also enjoyed the fish in the tanks located in the gift shop. Very reasonable and educational fun all the way around, we'll definitely come back.

Big Joel's is a great experience no matter age you are! So much fun to see the kids get excited when the animals come over and eat the food from their hands! If you want to have fun, see some adorable animals, and create memories with your family; Big Joel's is the place to go!! We have gone numerous times and will continue to go back quite often! The teenagers even love it enough to put the phones away! Definitely worth checking out

I've been taking my grandkids here every summer for the last 4 years and they absolutely love it. Great hands on with the animals. Highly recommend!

Slide 1 of 3

Great open park with cliffs and rolling hills. I went when it was December so no one was there. They have Petroglyphs to look at, trails, boat ramps, the Big River access, pool, RV and camp sites, cabins, little store. Very cool State Park to visit or stay the weekend.

Very nice State Park. Smaller campground than some other parks, but the sites are paved and for the most part, pretty level. Nice hiking trails and good access to the Nig River. Many playground and picnic areas, and some scenic views too. As like most Missouri state parks, it's well maintained and beautiful.

I love this state park. There's a lot to do here including hiking, swimming, picnicking, camping, and viewing Native American petroglyphs. The campground is very well maintained and there are some friendly stray cats there.

Excellent experience, and all for free! Came to St. Louis to see the arch for our anniversary. Found out about you in a tour guide magazine and glad we did! Such a friendly staff and great experience. We are already sharing about you with others to be sure to visit when in the area.

It's free and dog friendly. Mask required. Fun and easy way to kill a couple hours. Has a fenced in area where you can take your dog off-leash. There were lots of children running around unattended.

Wonderful family outing. It is 100% free -- no admission or parking fees. Every type of farm animal is there to show the tots; they can pet most of them and watch a cow being milked. You can even take a hay ride. And of course there are plenty of pups and kitties (looking for new homes). The highlight is the dog show with trained pooches running obstacle courses, catching frisbees, and diving into the pool. LOTS of fun for animal lovers. Purina has a strict mask policy: 100% masking of everyone except little ones, indoors AND outside, at all times (unless eating).

We were in town for just a couple of days. People mention this winery to us. When we pulled onto the parking lot the view was outstanding, you can say the view takes your breath away. The wine we try was a 2018 Norton, It was smooth with very little aftertaste. We will be back.

Wonderful service as soon as we walked in the door. They were able to suggest several wine options based on what we said we typically like and gave us samples and we liked them all. Gorgeous view!

This place is great, the gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable and made our tasting very enjoyable. We bought a bottle to share and ordered food and sat on the patio. The view was fantastic, the wines are very good, and the food got the spot.

We were recommended to go here by a guide at a national monument nearby. I'm glad she told us about it. We didn't know much about Daniel Boone, but we learned a lot about not only him and his family but also the time period. They have a village there that would be cool to return for one of the outdoor events.

I visited the Historic Daniel Boone Home at it turned out to be an extremely entertaining experience. The tour was thorough and extremely informative. The docents are very informative and able to answer the vast majority of my questions.

This place was awesome, lots of history here! The friendly and knowledgeable staff were great, and (surprisingly) my kids loved it. I recommend doing the tour, the Boone House is beautiful inside and out.

Huge amusement park with high-speed coasters, kids' rides & water slides, plus live entertainment.

Love this smaller six flags park for it's unique coaster collection - Boss, Ninja, Screamin Eagle, American Thunder, River King Mine Train, etc. Just has a nice park layout and other guests are all very friendly and didn't mind sharing insights to tips or directions within the park. As a single rider, I got to ride with numerous other people who were all.very friendly. Overall great crowd and a nice park.

Finally had a chance to check this place out.. it was awesome! Line waiting was reasonable, food cost was average for theme parks in the Midwest... The atmosphere and esthetics we're all great to me. And the kids well, THEY LOVED IT!!!

I'm going to brag on your staff! Everyone was super friendly and helpful when I didn't know where to go to activate my season pass! The rides that were open were fun and just what this working mom needed to remind myself why I work so hard. The rides batman, boomerang, and fireball had the most fun people as operators! They really kept the energy upbeat and silly. I wish just once that Mr.freeze would be working when I go as I've been for years and manage to have never seen it up and functioning. The games are challenging but still fun to do even when you miss every shot like me lol. I can't wait to go again and again this season! Thanks for keeping me young at heart and giving my kids the gift of amusement.

My visit was a baby shower on the villa and it was very nice!! Had a room used for events. The surroundings were beautiful and lots of people enjoying live music and wine on site.

Beautiful Winery out in the countryside of Hillsboro. Everything was lush and vivid. Wine tasting is very reasonable. Taste 5 wines for $5, and you get to keep the Villa Antonio Winery glass. The wood fire pizza is an absolute must and I recommend the Chicken Bacon Ranch. Great, relaxing afternoon.

We visited the winery this past weekend as a vendor for a wedding. My husband was the DJ and we arrived early to get ready for the event. Jeff was there and very friendly, helpful, and professional. Hard working and many times watched him diving in to help staff and other vendors. When Jeff left Madi arrived and was the event go to person event coordinator for the wedding and reception . The winery was beautiful, relaxing. We ordered food and that was great too. Would highly recommend this venue for event and or weekend visit.

Kayaking was a blast. Be prepared to be confused if this is a legit tour, it is, but I questioned it the entire time. To start, the entrance getting to the parking lot seems sketchy to say the least. There is a small bridge leading to a tunnel with wires hanging down. No, you aren’t going to die and yes, that’s the entrance. We laughed the entire time and said, “is this for real?!” The entire trip. Port-a-potties were available outside before entering the cave. Don, a 73 yr old guy along with his teenager granddaughter met us there. He is very kind and really cares if you are having a good time yet he lacks in his tact a little and makes sly, inappropriate comments on occasion. The tour went long which we enjoyed but be prepared to not go to the bathroom. Don provides gloves, life jackets, headlamps, and the kayaks. He has multiple kayaks with large floodlights on them to illuminate the caves. He will point out bats if he sees them and show you all the unique characteristics of the cave. Technically it is a sandstone mine.

Was in mine for 3 hours. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the mine. Dress warm.

One of my favorite places to go! So many fun memories here! Love it!

Slide 1 of 3

Pretty neat little place and it's free. Came here for a quick walk because I was in the area and was able to check out some of the interesting structures that they had on display. Quite family friendly and ample parking. The trails mostly don't have shade so don't come on a hot day.

I found the Laumeier Sculpture Park suggests in the Saint Louis Passport sold at the Art Museum. I'm glad I went to see it for myself because I had a very enjoyable time walking around the grounds and on the trails. This spot is loaded with fun sculptures that will make you feel grateful and appreciative. Thank you!

This place has a lot of interesting sculptures. It is a clean and safe environment, good for kids. Sometimes they even have bands and food trucks. The sculptures are very good and it’s also nice to walk while I look at art. I will be back!

Had a lot if fun there with my 3yr old granddaughter. Lots to do to keep her going. Staff was on hand watching which was good since older kids were getting out of hand. We will b back soon! Had India theme to show kids different places around the world it was fun and educational.

Such a Awesome time, every time! A wealth of adventure and discovery learning and play. Always new exhibits which is greatly appreciated by members. Always clean, staff always pleasant. Price is well worth it. Adequate parking.

Pure chaos at times but so fun for parents and kids! So many rooms and levels to explore together and interactive elements throughout. My kids especially loved the "town" area and enjoyed playing "grown up". We brought out of town guests who loved it as well. Seasonally there is even an outdoor area to play. We at lunch on site and stayed most of the day. Pretty pricy if you don't live locally for a membership. Nice treat out for the family. I'd recommend!

Hollywood Casino & Hotel St. Louis

Modern rooms & suites in a bustling casino hotel offering casual & upscale dining, plus live music.

Slide 1 of 3

This was great place overall. It was my daughter's 21st birthday took her there for a great time and that what happened they gave us $25.00 dollars each of free play witch I let my daughter have and it paid out not much buy she turned $50.00 into $125.00 that is a win in my book. The staff was friendly and the playing of slot machines was top notch. Way to go guys keep it up. This is for the parents. When was the last time you seen a cigarette machine?

We spent 1 night here & enjoyed it. The property is really nice and expansive. The rooms are nice and fairly clean (we stayed in the Sunset Tower). Bed was super comfy too! One downside would be that the hotel lobby & non-smoking portion of the casino still do have a bit of a smokey scent but it wasn’t that bad really. They also have a parking garage and a large free self-parking lot which was great.

We stayed for one night mid week. Overall it was a good experience. The room was large and clean. Nothing fancy but more than ample. Check in was quick and easy. The lady at the front desk was very courteous. The casino itself was just average. Drink service in the evening was a little iffy. For being so slow I felt it could've been better. The selection of games was decent and we had a few nice wins. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles

Contemporary, all-suite casino hotel with an indoor/outdoor pool & a 1950s-themed lounge.

Slide 1 of 3

Far as the hotel goes its pretty decent. All the rooms are suites very much spacious. Front desk they are helpful, although a few can learn how to talk to guests. They have a year-round indoor/outdoor pool. The lobby, common areas, and in general are well managed and clean. The casino is huge, beautiful design, various slot machines and tables. Staff are always visible and willing to assist.

Did a staycation with my daughter and her fiance. We rented two rooms. Both were very nice. One face the downtown area and all the lights and the other face the river which was nice as well. The rooms are very big and spacious. Showers are really nice. My only negative would be they don't have a sort of gift shop or place to get things like soda or chips. They also don't have ice machines and vending machines on the floors like most places. I assume that's to encourage you to eat at the restaurants. The staff was kind to us to get the rooms close together. A little pricey at about $200 per night after the local taxes. Would definitely recommend.

We purchased a room for 2 nights. Mind you we have 2 young children that tagged along. We have been to this hotel more times than we can count and have always had an amazing time. We checked in this time and got situated in our lovely room when the kids asked to go swimming. We all got ready and went down to find that the pool closes at 6PM for anyone under 21! I asked if this was an everyday occurrence and the lady went on to reply yes. Never have I ever heard of such a rule before. As I stated earlier we have been numerous times before. We were very disappointed especially when we couldn't even check in until 4. We pay a pretty penny to come here but it makes it all worth it to let the kids enjoy the awesome pool. Little to say the hotel definitely lowered their family friendly atmosphere a notch by making this change.

I love coming here at any time of the year, this place is always thriving with new people and new attractions. I especially love halloween season! Rain or shine they always say and they mean it! Perfect place to go when you just want to get away from everything and take a nice stroll down this beautiful historic district. The riverwalk is even a HUGE plus! Just make sure to pay attention to weather and the river for flooding, but besides that this place is a wonderful area to just go to, to get out of the house. Will ALWAYS recommend!

What a great place to walk around and explore on a nice day. The historic district has many small boutiques and shops housed in old buildings original to the beginning settlement of St. Charles. It is a lovely area.

Went here a few days before Christmas and it was the cutest! Carolers, roasted chestnuts, horse drawn carriage rides. Christmas oozed out of every corner and it was a delight!

Most Excellent St Louis Treasure. This Park is Phenomenal experience to be offered free admission with only a parking fee. Can be purchased online in advance for less. Cashless park bring a Card to purchase food beverage and special activities experiencing and feeding some wildlife is a must.

This place is always fun to go to, it brings back many childhood memories of family trips with my grandparents to see the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales. There are lots of things to see and do here. And now I have the opportunity to create memories with my grandchildren. Pro tip, don't buy the milk for the goats since they are usually full if you aren't the first ones there. Buy the cones with the food instead.

Fun place to go. Bob and I enjoyed the BBQ and music 🎶 👌. Only 23 miles down 55.

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site

Sights & Landmarks

Historic 19th-century home of Ulysses S. Grant, with guided tours & a museum on site.

Slide 1 of 3

Grant's Home, a historical site? which is just before Grant's Farm. We finally stopped in and I'm glad we did. The video and museum do a wonderful job in showing how Grant's evolved and how his earlier struggles helped shape him. Make sure to do the tour of the house. It is very interesting to see what an 19th century home was like. Having two kitchens to help keep warm or battle heat is such a foreign concept to the 21st century.

Beautiful grounds and knowledgeable tour that guides you through the history of our former union general and president. Very interesting that Grant was quite against slavery, whole his wife was not. The historical displays are fantastic. Worth the trip for sure.

The movie is very informative and worth a watch....but...how's that possible that Grant lost his fortune when he moved to Manhattan? 😀

This is amazingly beautiful and well maintained state park. It is a must visit in fall, the fall colors are amazing, it has drive through scenic lookout points. I just loved this state park in Grafton, IL. Very good for photography and nature walk! Lodging available and hiking trails are there.

Beautiful park near the Mississippi River. The colors of the fall leaves are pretty. We drove from Alton along the River, the view was fantastic.

The billy goat trail (I think that’s what it’s called?) was definitely the way to go for my first time here. Rewarding view from the top! If only I had a better camera to capture it.

I did Zipline here. It was one of the best experiences. Our tour guides were Zack and Zane. They were very good and funny. We were only a group of 4 people so we were done in one hour. There are 7 courses and a surprise at the end. The 3rd route was my favorite. This is a must try activity if you are in the area.

We had the time of our lives!! Our guides Chuck and Isaac were so much fun!! They were very informative, made sure we were safe, but also made sure we had FUN! There were 6 other people in our group, and they were all a blast! I have to say that zipline #3 was my favorite! I even did it upside-down. By the end I had the guides spinning me upside-down before I went down the line. I have some mobility issues. I have a bad right knee, and neuropathy in both my feet and legs and makes it a little hard for walking on uneven surfaces and stairs. I had ZERO problems zip lining. I did need a little extra help on a couple spots walking on the course, where there was a couple hills or stairs. My fiancée helped me, and the guides helped me a little when I needed it, but I really didn't need much help at all. The course took us right between 2-2 1/2 hours, and was 7 zip lines. It was definitely worth the $79 we paid for it!! It's $89 on Saturday. (This was for the 2021 season) plus our guides told us that all the tree house platforms were built by tree house masters from the TV show...so that was kind of cool too. If you are even considering doing it...do it!! You will be so happy you did! We had the time of our lives, and are considering going back and doing it again.

Best Zipline experience EVER! The whole adventure was filled with excitement and laughter! Friendly to kids and exciting enough for most adults. Our tour master Jason and DJ Johnny were exceptional. We felt we were not just paid for a zipline adventure, also a comedy stage show. Full of fun! Highly recommended to everyone! Looking forward to go back when more colors added to the woods.
