In the bustling Ostanian city of Berlint, Twilight dons the alias of "Loid Forger," an esteemed psychiatrist. However, his true intention is to gather intelligence on prominent politician Donovan Desmond, who only appears rarely in public at his sons' school: the prestigious Eden Academy. Enlisting the help of unmarried city hall clerk Yor Briar to act as his wife and adopting the curious six-year-old orphan Anya as his daughter, Loid enacts his master plan. He will enroll Anya in Eden Academy, where Loid hopes she will excel and give him the opportunity to meet Donovan without arousing suspicion. Unfortunately for Loid, even a man of his talents has trouble playing the figure of a loving father and husband. And just like Loid is hiding his true identity, Yor—who is an underground assassin known as "Thorn Princess"—and Anya—an esper who can read people's minds—have no plans to disclose their own secrets either. Spy × Family is an anime television series based on the manga series of the same title by Tatsuya Endo. Produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, the series is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, with character designs by Kazuaki Shimada while Kazuaki Shimada and Kyoji Asano are chief animation directors. The music is produced by Know_Name.[1] It was first announced in October 2021.[1][2]

The series follows master spy Twilight, who must disguise himself as psychiatrist Loid Forger and build a mock family in order to investigate political leader Donovan Desmond. Unbeknownst to him, his wife, Yor, is actually an assassin known as the Thorn Princess, while his daughter, Anya, has telepathic abilities.[3]

The series will consist of 25 episodes.[4] The first part consisting of 12 episodes, aired in Japan from April 9 to June 25, 2022, on TV Tokyo and other networks.[5] The second part consisting of 13 episodes premiered on October 1, 2022. The first opening theme song is "Mixed Nuts" (ミックスナッツ, Mikkusu Natsu) by Official Hige Dandism, while the first ending theme song is "Comedy" (喜劇, Kigeki) by Gen Hoshino.[7] The second opening theme song is "Souvenir" by Bump of Chicken, while the second ending theme song is "Shikisai" (色彩, "Color") by Yama.[8][9] A second season and a theatrical film were announced in December 2022, and will both premiere in 2023.[10]

The series is licensed for streaming by Crunchyroll outside of Asia,[11] while it is distributed by Muse Communication in South and Southeast Asia.[12]
