Save Waddle Dee 1

The first Waddle Dee in The Wastes Where Life Began is located behind a gate that can only be opened by collecting five green star pieces. Here's where to find them all.

The first star piece is on the main path just behind the large snake enemy.

As you continue up the main path, you'll see a green switch to your right on a platform. Click it, and another switch will appear. In total, four switches will appear on the platforms over the poison here - click all of them for another piece of the green star to appear.

Make a left from those switches and you'll see a ring to enter Ring Mouthful Mode. Inhale it, and keep going left. You'll see a treasure chest partially submerged in sand. Blast it with B to uncover it to find another piece of the green star inside.

Continue left as Ring Mouth Kirby until you see some windmills on platforms surrounded by poison. Blast all of them with air to cause the fourth piece to appear.

Now that you have four pieces, make your way back to the right until you see a yellow ladder - that will take you to Fleurina, which you must defeat to get the final piece, causing the Waddle Dee just in front of you to be released. However, to complete the next mission - Defeat Fleurina using Ring Mouth - you must not use the ladder.

Defeat Fleurina using Ring Mouth

Defeat Fleurina using Ring Mouth

Instead of using the ladder to get up to Fleurina, instead, as Ring Mouth Kirby, go to the right of the ladder and climb up the red metal structure. Use that to jump to a rock in front of you, then up up to where the last green star piece and Fleurina are. Press B to blast Fleurina with air to defeat her.

Defeat the lost Squishy

Over by the windmills, you may have noticed a squid-like enemy. Defeat it to complete this mission.

Crystal Needle Blueprint

Crystal Needle Blueprint

Just to the left of where you fought Fleurina is a treasure chest with the Crystal Needle Blueprint inside.

Shoot 3 flying targets

Shoot 3 flying targets

To shoot the flying targets, you first need to inhale a Bernard, the scruffy dog-like enemy with a gun. This will give you the Ranger ability. The first target is in front of, and a bit to the right, of where you hit the switches above the poison.

The second one is to the left of those same switches.

The third target is a bit tricky to spot. It's very high up above the arrow sign that points you in the rection of this area's exit.

Save Waddle Dee 2

The second Waddle Dee is in the second area of The Wastes Where Life Began. Once you make a right, you'll see a crack in the floor. There isn't a way for you to break it as regular Kirby, but there is a ring to inhale just up ahead.

Press B to windblast the metal column to the right of the cracked floor to make it topple over, breaking the floor and uncovering the second Waddle Dee.

Save Waddle Dee 3

Save the 3 hidden Waddle Dees in The Wastes Where Life Began

Keep going on the main path as Ring Mouth Kirby and you'll find another part of the ground that is cracked. Blast the column to the right to make it fall and break the floor, revealing a secret door beneath.

Jump across the platforms to the right, making sure not to be hit by the falling columns. Once you reach the end, quickly turn and jump back to the platform to the left to avoid the final falling debris. The Waddle Dee will be there.
