This remains a fun franchise with a lot of promise, even as I found myself increasingly less enthused by the expanding mythology of this story world.” CineFiles Movie Reviews ” …a wild, visceral ride that’s at once incredibly disjointed and compelling. Park Hoon-jung sticks to his guns, winning points for delivering something very different to the usual Korean action blockbuster, and hopefully, the film’s awkward title won’t put open-minded genre audiences off giving it a shot.” Eastern Kicks “All in all, this is a solid action movie with some great combat sequences. It is not always narratively coherent and little is added by way of developing the basic premise, but it delivers what most fans will be looking for. Just when Shin finally gets some agency, she loses it to franchise building, which is too bad. It’s the worst thing about the movie, which has been teasing post-Other One plot lines throughout, but always additively. Sometimes too much additively, but never at the expense of Shin.” The Stop Button “It is unfortunate that Park decided to flesh out the world more than the narrative, but it is an interesting world. Where it stumbles is as a follow-up to an effective genre hybrid that used both horror and action in equal measure. The Witch: Part 2. The Other One just never quite nails either because it seems more interesting in crafting a universe than a story.” Tilt “The Witch 2: The Other One is full of dialogue that could have been trimmed and half-formed ideas that I’m guessing are seeds of plot elements for the inevitable third film. But they’re merely annoyances during this one.
