I received a letter and check from "Travelers" saying I am a contest winner, is it legitimate?

No, it is not. We have been made aware that some individuals across the country have received letters and counterfeit checks, drawn on Travelers Insurance / Travelers Indemnity or some variation of the Travelers name, indicating that they have won a lottery / sweepstakes. The letters and checks are fraudulent and are in no way associated with Travelers. Travelers Internal Investigations unit is investigating this mail fraud and is working with law enforcement authorities in the United States and Canada. You should not respond to the request and should contact your local authorities. Additional details on this scam as well as fraud prevention tips and links can be found on our website.

How do I confirm that a check or request for information is from Travelers?

Travelers values your privacy and the security of your information. If you are ever unsure about the authenticity of a check or request for information received; please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Advocacy Team at 866.336.2077 or via email form.
