Overview ofJoseph in Egypt to Moses and the Exodus430 Years of Captivity —Genesis 47:9 – Exodus 12:41

Was Joseph before or after Moses?
The Egyptian Captivity of Israel begins with Jacob and his family joining Joseph in Egypt. This event occurs 290 DFC years and 58 days after the birth of Abraham on November 11 – Heshvan 22 in 2166 BC. When Jacob meets with Pharaoh, and tells him he is 130 Years old (Genesis 47:1-10), it is Wednesday January 9 – Tevet 20 in 1875 BC. Scripture is very clear that Joseph is 39 years old when Jacob arrives in the second year of the famine in Egypt and Canaan. Using the “Five Year + 1 Day Rule” would place Joseph’s birthday on January 1 – Tevet 12 in 1914 BC. Joseph’s birthday would be exactly 2200 years from the first January 1 – Tevet 12 in 4114 BC. The dating of Jacob’s arrival in Egypt has been a major stumbling block for many Bible chronologies. Many can easily follow the trail of years in Scripture from Creation to the birth of Jacob. These years are easily calculated because we are told how old a Patriarch is when the son who will carry on the Sacred Line is born. When we get to the birth of Joseph however, the Biblical text is silent about his father Jacob’s age. The Bible chronology trail picks up when Jacob tells his age of 130 years to Pharaoh as previously mentioned. Jacob’s arrival in Egypt starts the 430 years and 86 days of Israel’s Captivity in Egypt. From this same information we can tell that Jacob was 91 years old when Joseph is born. Joseph is 39 when his father Jacob arrives in Egypt. This is an important clarification because many Bible historians claim that the 430 years of captivity starts when Abraham leaves Haran at the age of 75. This error throws the chronology of the Bible off by 215 years and results in many other chronological errors that are clarified by this research which uses only the numbers in the Biblical Text.

Passover is instituted according to this research data and Scripture (Exodus 12:1-41) on Friday March 28 – Nisan 10 in 1445 BC. Joshua and the Nation of Israel would cross the River Jordan on this same date 40 years later in 1405 BC according to Joshua 3:2-17. The Firstborn in Egypt is taken on Tuesday April 1 – Nisan 14 (at midnight of Nisan 15), just 4 days later after Passover is Instituted. Four hundred and thirty years and 86 days after Jacob’s arrival in Egypt, Moses becomes 80 years old plus 16 days on Friday April 4 – Nisan 17 in 1445 BC (BR). On this same day, Israel makes first camp at Succoth beginning the Exodus and their first day out of Egypt on the evening of Friday Nisan 17 as stated in Exodus 12:37-39. On this same date, 40 years later, Joshua would meet “the Commander of the army of the Lord” which begins Day 1 of the 7 day Battle for Jericho according to Joshua 5:13-6:5.

In the second month of the Exodus, on the 52nd day from Nisan 10, Moses and the people of Israel arrive at the Wilderness of Sinai and make camp at the base of the Mount Horeb (Sinai). This date is Sunday May 18 – Sivan 2 in 1445 BC. This same date exactly 480 years later is the start date for Solomon’s Temple in 965 BC as stated in I Kings 6:1 and II Chronicles 3:2. On Thursday May 22 – Sivan 6 in 1445 BC, four days after making camp at the base of Mount Sinai, God speaks to the Nation of Israel from the Mountain as stated in Exodus 24:1-2. Sivan 6 becomes the day that Pentecost is celebrated in Jewish Festivals. In the year 30 AD, the events of Pentecost recorded in Acts 2:1-4 falls on Sunday May 26 – Sivan 6 on the Gregorian-Hebrew calendar. It is important to note that the currently used Secular Hebrew calendar puts this same date at Sivan 8. I use this illustration to show that the currently used Secular Hebrew Calendar, developed after the 3rd century AD, is not consistent with Scripture in either the New or Old Testament.

At the time of the Exodus, Moses is instructed to move the Calendar back 6 months. The result is the 7th Month of Nisan now becomes the 1st Month of Tishri as instructed in Exodus 12:1-3. Wednesday March 19 – Nisan 1 becomes Wednesday September 18 – Tishri 6 in the year 1445 BC. At the same time, the 1st month on the Gregorian Calendar becomes the seventh month of the same year. This instruction to Moses has been basically impossible to explain before knowing that the calendar consistent with the Bible has 364-Days per year. It is equally difficult to explain the exact dates of Daniel’s 70 Weeks Prophecy without this vital information. The Exodus is the center of Biblical History. All calculations on the Bible Timeline use the start of the Exodus as the Anchor Date and year for all other calculations of events. Most of the dates used in this Bible Timeline are based on information found in the Old Testament Book of Genesis.  Most of the events involving Moses are found in the Book of Exodus.  Using the years and months given in the Bible, almost every major event can accurately be dated backwards from the Exodus to Creation. The events from The Exodus to Daniel’s 70 Weeks Prophecy and the events of the Life of Jesus can also be known with accuracy. The dates found in this Bible Timeline are consistent with many known dates in secular history and are consistent with Scripture. The dates given in this Timeline are not consistent with many important dates found in other current Bible chronology events prior to 455 BC. Since the 364-Day calendar consistent with Scripture appears to be basis of the world’s currently used calendars, it is now possible to convert any date in the Bible to a date on our currently used solar calendars and vice-versa.

130 Year Old Jacob Meets Pharaoh

This event also marks the thirty-ninth DFC year in the life of Joseph. When the Egyptian Pharaoh meets Jacob he asks him: “How old are you?” When Jacob replies that he is 130 years old, the chronological trail in years from Creation, that seemed to be omitted at the birth of Joseph, is now reestablished. Jacob’s meeting with Pharaoh establishes the starting point of the 430 years in Egypt. Some Bible commentaries start the 430 years in Egypt at the time Abraham leaves Haran when he is 75 years old. According the numbered years in Scripture, Abraham leaves Haran 215 years before Jacob’s arrival in Egypt. The 430 years of Egyptian Captivity ends with Israel making first camp at Succoth 430 years and 86 days after Jacob meets the Pharaoh. The first day out of Egypt for the Exodus would come on Friday, April 4−Nisan 17 in 1445 BC. This Nisan 17 date is exactly 1,012 years after Noah’s Ark rests in the mountains of Ararat in 2457 BC (Genesis 8:1-4). CD#84 is the DFC date for events happening between 1876 BC and 1872 BC.

Birth of Moses-Brother of Aaron- Second Son of Amram

The DFC birth date of Moses on Nisan 1 marks an important Anchor date for dating important events at the start and end of the Exodus. Eighty years and sixteen days later, on Nisan 17 in 1445 BC, Israel would make first camp at Succoth and dedicate the Firstborn. Forty years after this start date of the Exodus, on Nisan 17 in 1405 BC; Joshua would meet the Commander of the Lord’s Army in the evening at the start of the Hebrew day. Joshua would then go back to the camp and begin planning the battle for Jericho which would begin the next morning of this same day. Moses Kills an Egyptian and Flees to Midian at Age 40

Moses’ “apparent step-brother,” the Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmose III and son of Queen Hatshepsut, seeks to kill Moses after Moses kills an Egyptian for abusing a Hebrew slave in 1485 BC. Moses is forty years old when he flees Egypt and goes to Midian. This is the most likely start of “about four hundred and fifty years” of the Judges mentioned in Acts 13:20-22. In 1035 BC, four hundred and fifty years later, King Saul is in the fifteenth year of his reign. Samuel is the King’s Prophet and the future King David is five years old. This seems to be one of several explanations to fit the text of Acts 13:20-22. See commentary in the MacArthur Study Bible on Exodus 2:23-25 and Acts 13:20-22. Israel’s condition of bondage and hardship would worsen with the beginning of the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep II in 1450 BC. This is the Pharaoh that would meet with Moses and Aaron and send the nation of Israel out of Egypt in 1445 BC. CD#162 is the DFC date for events happening between 1486 BC and 1482 BC.

Exodus 3:1-4:17

Moses Sees the Burning Bush

Moses sees a burning bush that is not consumed and hears the voice of God. On this date, Moses would have his first encounter with God and be given instructions about leading Israel out of Egypt. It is estimated that this event happens exactly one year before the first day out of Egypt of the Exodus. This date is also exactly 1011 years from the date that Noah’s Ark comes to rest in the mountains of Ararat, as recorded in Genesis 8:1-4. On this same solar Nisan 17 date in 30 AD, Jesus would appear to His disciples, without Thomas present, on the evening of the Resurrection.

It is obvious by the description of the ten plagues that these were not normal events of nature. These events are obviously orchestrated by God to soften Pharaoh’s heart and display His Sovereignty and glory. The land of Egypt would never recover from the physical and economic damage caused by the ten plagues that followed. Egyptian murals prior to the Exodus show a landscape with more vegetation than currently exists in Egypt.

The seventh month of Nisan in the Book of Genesis becomes the first month of the calendar at the time of the Exodus. The order of the days on the 364-Day calendar is unchanged. The first month of Tishri in the Book of Genesis becomes the seventh month at the Exodus. This structure of the makeup of the calendar will remain unchanged until the end of the Old Testament. This date in history in the year 1445 BC becomes the Anchor date and year for this entire Biblical Timeline. From the first day out of Egypt on Nisan 17, just seven days later, all DFC dates in Scripture can be calculated. This date in history is consistent with a 5 BC date for the birth of Jesus using the numbered dates in the Biblical text.
