How do I know if my money transfer has been received?

You can got to track a transfer on the homepage at wu.com or on the Western Union app. Then type in the sender's name and MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number). We will then update you on the latest status of your money transfer. Check your money transfer status now.

How do I pick up a money transfer?

You can pick up the money at any Western Union agent location. You'll need to provide the following information:

  • Your name and address.
  • Your sender's full name.
  • The country where the money was sent from.
  • The exact amount that was sent.
  • The tracking number (MTCN – Money Transfer Control Number)

How does a Western Union agent pay out the money transfer?

Money transfers will generally be paid in cash, as well as directly to a receiver’s bank account or mobile phone if the service is available.

You can cancel the transfer and request a refund before the money has been picked up at a participating agent location or deposited into your receiver’s account. You will also be eligible for a refund if your money transfer could not be processed further by us.

How do I get the refund?

The refund credit will depend upon your original mode of payment.

Credit Card or Debit Card

1.If you paid through your credit card or debit card, you would receive the refund on the same card. It may take up to 7 business days to reflect the refund on your card. If you still have any questions, please reach out to our Customer Care at +65 6336 2000.

PayNow and Bank Transfer

2.As we do not save your bank account details, we will not be able to refund it back to your account if you have made the payment through PayNow or bank transfer. You will have to collect the refund amount in cash from one of the below-mentioned agent locations if the refund is less than 3000 SGD.

Please have your refund MTCN handy when you make the call. Before we can process your refund to bank account, we will need to validate the transfer. For that, we will need your tracking number (MTCN), proof of debit, and your bank account statement for the account used to make the transfer, with the bank account holder’s name and account number clearly printed on it. Please note that it might take up to 7 business days after you provide all necessary documents and information for our approval and verification for the refund to bank account. If you need the refund urgently, we advise you to visit the agent location and collect cash.
