Once I was on the plain it was excellent When I checked I. I didn’t think it is Proffesional to call someone’s name on the intercom and change their seats without even letting them know why ! I could not check in online - WHY we live in a first world country . I couldn’t pick my seat - also why? Train your staff to ASKED customers if it is ok to change their seats just before a flight. It was dishonest to ask my passport , take my boarding pass and print a new one and hoping I wouldn’t see . When I saw what is busy to happen I was VERY upset. I said “ Are you changing my seat number?” Only then they said yes . What’s up with that . If it wasn’t for the experience and incident I would have give AIR New Zealand a 5 star rating . But now I have to warn my American friend to reconsider flying Air NZ .

I also disliked that some of the crew members drove the food/beverage cart violently through the isles and saw as one of the crew members rammed into another person's leg, to only say "oh sorry" and kept on going. This same crew member missed picking up the trash from an entire row and was throwing trash on the floor. She was more interested in caring for a baby on board (not sure if it was her daughter or family member) than the rest of the passengers. I also didn't like the seats were so close to each other, the person in front of me almost hit my face when he reclined his seat all the way back. There wasn't much room to breath let alone stretch."

Cons: "The check in process was a disaster- and none of the crew knew what they were doing. They were very unhelpful and on topof that kayak did not let us know there would be a $160 fee if we did not order a seat with a baggage. It was not clear on the third party site. It was a very costly for us, a couple who is on a budget. i book From kayak all the time, and know exactly when I am booking an economy ticket vs a more upgrade. We had to pay an unexpected $320 on the day of flight. It was ridiculous and while we were boarding the flight attendants held us up again bc we had not paid the fee. But we tried to pay the fee at the front desk the first time and then we paid it at the gate and then boarded last on the plane. It was awful. The staff did not know anything and we were not treated great. Super unprofessional and disappointed at Kayak for not laying out all the costs ahead of me."

Cons: "If the customer is given the option of special meal - 1. the special meal should be what one selects. I selected Hindu meal as per option and was being served Veg Jain Meal. 2. Should be made available. Though I booked the flight for both me and my wife and the special meal request was for both, the wrong Veg meal was made available only to my wife. Something is not right with their system. One you serve what you make us select and then the system is recording only for one passenger."

More options for caffeine that did not include coffee/tea/coke. All the other sodas are caffeine free and I dislike coke

On the flight from Miami to Dallas, a father and older teenager boarded. Father was wearing mask under his chin. Son had mask dangling off one ear. They were in middle and aisle seats one row in front of me. Many times flight attendants walked up and down and they were never spoken to. If it's a rule ENFORCE it. I didn't like that my ticket said Alaska and I was actually on American until my connection in Dallas. Then I was on Alaska. Very confusing with booking numbers. Plus, when I checked in I only received ONE boarding pass when I needed to board two planes. Made more of a hassle than necessary.

Kayak / Alaska did not let me know that I was actually flighting on American. I HAD PAID Alaska for economy plus, but since it was a change of planes I had no seat at all and ‘was Lucky’ to get a middle seat in the back.

We boarded at 11:00 pm, and landed at 5:20 am. Even though it was a fairly long flight, there was no food service. We did receive drinks however.

At that point, your elite or first class status is thrown out the window since it's a free for all to get on board as they pack you in the bus like sardines. It delayed the departure by 30 mins. Also, Alaska should look at getting entertainment sets in the back of the headrests."

Pros: "This was first Alaska airlines trip and I want to do more! I showed up at the Seattle airport and tried to use one of the many conveniently placed kiosks. I couldn't find my trip, BECAUSE I HAD BOOKED FOR THE WRONG DAY!. This could have been very stressful but an attendant near the (short) line asked me if needed help and immediately redirected me to the VIP line. There, I found another very short line, and smiling, enthusiastic staff. The young woman who helped me got my info, and walked away to get the problem solved with a supervisor. She returned a short time later, my boarding pass in hand, upgraded me to Premium seating and TSA pre check -- without me even asking! On the plane, I mostly slept, but when I woke up I found the attendant had left me my boxes snack which was a mix of nuts and dried fruit in a fancy package. The seats seemed more comfortable than they were in recent trips on United and Southwest. There were plugs everywhere for phone and device charging. There was free wifi(!!). And there were devices available for borrowing. There was even a website for free movie streaming. In a time when most other airlines have sour faced (need to retire!) attendants (Southwest an exception), and EVERYTHING is a la Carte pricing, it is so nice to fly with a company that tries to make passengers happy and comfortable. One of the best pilots I've had on a flight in a while! And you can't beat the free checked baggage that SW still offers along w/ a carry on! I'd definitely rank SW as one of the TOP airlines around today!"

She proceeded to laugh for the next 20 minutes repeating that the woman was helpless. I was disgusted by the flight attendant's behavior and attitude."
