Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has scored a new endorsement deal ahead of the 2021 NFL season. Show
Midwest grocery chain Hy-Vee has been the official grocer of the Chiefs since 2009, but the partnership has since grown. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Hy-Vee back in 2019, featuring his ‘Mahomes Magic Crunch’ cereal. On Friday, the grocery chain announced a brand new partnership with Kelce running through 2025. Buy Chiefs Tickets “I’m excited to be partnering with Hy-Vee because from the start they were interested in how they could support my foundation and the work we do in the community,” Kelce said in a press release. “I also know how impactful the Hy-Vee brand is. By working together, we’ll be able to connect with a lot of Chiefs’ Kingdom across the Midwest, which is important to me.” As a part of the endorsement deal, Hy-Vee will be donating $1,000 to Kelce’s 87 and Running foundation for every touchdown Kelce scores. The veteran tight end scored a career-high 11 touchdowns during the 2020 NFL season, adding another three scores during the playoffs. “When we saw the outreach that Travis (Kelce) was doing in his local community, we knew we wanted to support his efforts,” Hy-Vee’s chairman, CEO and president, Randy Edeker, said via press release. “Not only is Travis talented on the field, he also serves as a true role model and sports icon for the families who visit our stores, making him a great partner for us at Hy-Vee.” In addition to the collaboration with Kelce’s foundation, Hy-Vee will carry exclusive Kelce-branded products at their grocery stores in and around the Kansas City area. A portion of the proceeds from those products will also go to 87 and Running. For the most part, television commercials can be quite annoying, but there is one that began playing recently that Chiefs fans are going to love. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce star in a spot for Hy-Vee grocery stores. Each player is in their own home eating chips and salsa As Kelce realizes he’s out of salsa, Mahomes grabs his phone and orders salsa. Kelce then sees he’s low on chips, so Mahomes orders a bag of tortilla chips to be sent to Kelce’s home. Mahomes then tosses his jar of salsa to Kelce. They both get their delivery at the same time, and return to their respective couches with plenty of chips and salsa. The teammates then nod and smile at one another and get back to eating. All the while, the song “Best Friend” is playing in the commercial. That was written and performed by Harry Nilsson for the TV show “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” which aired from 1969-72. Hy-Vee shared the commercial with The Star and you can see it above.
