Fourth of July means the skies will be awash in fireworks and families and friends will gather to enjoy a long weekend in the desert. We’ve compiled a list of activities in Greater Palm Springs and surrounding cities in hopes to help you plan your weekend. We will continue to update this story as new information becomes available. The spectacular fireworks display blasts off at 8:45 p.m. from the Eagle Falls Golf Course. This fun, community-wide celebration is open to all ages and will feature a synchronized soundtrack courtesy of BIG 106.1 KPLM- FM radio. Arrive early at the casino to secure a spot to watch the show. Parking for the fireworks display will be permitted in the gravel parking lot closest to the Eagle Falls Golf Course Pro Shop, in the casino parking garage and in the casino’s west and north lots. The public is welcome to bring blankets and low-back folding chairs. Continue the Independence Day festivities with a concert by multi-platinum regional Mexican music icon Pepe Aguilar at the Special Events Center at 8 p.m. July 3. Tickets are on sale for $39 each. San Gorgonio Ave. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1-3 p.m. Independence Day festivities will be held at Nicolet Middle School Stadium, 101 E. Nicolet St., starting at 6 p.m. Enjoy music, food, inflatable interactives, crafts, vendors and aerial fireworks, which will begin close to 9 p.m. The 4th Of July Fireworks Celebration in Big Bear, hosted by the Rotary Club, Visit Big Bear, and the City of Big Bear, is free and rated one of the biggest and best shows in California. The fireworks are shot from a barge off of Pine Knot Marina and views from on and around the lake are stunning. The show starts after sundown, between 8:45 and 9:15 pm. You can even watch the fireworks from 8,200 feet elevation with a ride on the Scenic Sky Chair for a fee. The viewing party includes a DJ. Starts at 5:30 p.m. with barbecue dinner at Hog on the Rocks, blues music by 60 Grit, and a free glass of champagne when the fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m. Dinner and entertainment is included in the ticket price. Fourth of July Cruise on Miss Liberty Paddlewheel Boat Captain John’s Independence Day Extravaganza See the fireworks reflect off of Lake Arrowhead. The city's annual 4th of July celebration starts at 5 p.m. July 4 at Knott’s Sky Park with free family fun including waterslides, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, free throw contest, cornhole tournament, Bizuri ice cream, food, music by Z107.7FM, and more. Fireworks light up the night sky at 9 p.m. from Tortoise Rock Casino. Gates open at 6 p.m. July 4 at Brehm Park, 56620 Little League Drive in Yucca Valley. A concert by the Blue Breeze Band startst at 6:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is free. Face painting, food vendors, and giveaways included. No alcolhol or pets allowed. Blankets and chairs, coolers and picnics welcome. • Drive up Highway 74 to Vista Point to have an overview of the entire valley and see several fireworks displays at once. Be careful driving down the switchback once the fireworks are over. • From the second floor of The Gardens at El Paseo in Palm Desert. Watch from a balcony or dine al fresco at Tommy Bahama and enjoy the Palm Desert fireworks from their patio.
