Wait, What Happened to the Kitten Bowl?

Unfortunately, Hallmark has canceled the 2022 Kitten Bowl. The company said in a statement to Variety that it hopes the feline football-cum-adoption event will return at some point in the future.

What Time Do These Events Start?

Puppy Bowl XVIII (2 pm Eastern): The 18th annual Puppy Bowl begins at 2 pm Eastern. It airs on Animal Planet and will be hosted once again by Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. For the most enthusiastic canine content consumers, the pregame show will begin at 1 pm Eastern. The Puppy Bowl XVIII lineup includes over 100 adoptable puppy players split across Team Ruff and Team Fluff.

Super Bowl LVI (6:30 pm Eastern): Kickoff for the 2022 Super Bowl is at 6:30 pm Eastern on Sunday, February 12. Pregame coverage begins at noon Eastern. It airs live on NBC and Peacock Premium. Mickey Guyton will sing the national anthem, while Jhené Aiko will regale the crowd with “America the Beautiful.” The halftime show will feature Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. (He's a busy man.)

Here's the simplest, easiest, and cheapest rundown on how to stream the Super Bowl: Folks with cable (or a TV provider login) can watch the game on their TV, through the NBC Sports app, through the NBC app, or online. Everyone else can watch it live via Peacock Premium. You'll find more details and alternative options further down this page.

Replete with dozens of doggos, an astronomical number of toys, a kitten-centric halftime show, and heartwarming tales of animal rescue, the Puppy Bowl is not to be missed. The services below offer live TV channels via the internet. Most of them can be watched via desktop and smartphone app, and they work on Roku, as well as our other favorite streaming devices. There are also free trials available to new users.

Remember to cancel before your trial period ends if you are not interested in subsequent charges. We suggest setting a reminder on your phone, calendar, or both.  Be sure to check out our roundup of the Best Streaming Services for more information and details on the many different options.

Services With the Puppy Bowl: Only interested in furball football? Philo's $25 Live TV service has Animal Planet, along with dozens of other channels, decent device support, and a free seven-day trial. You can also watch Animal Planet via Discovery+, which includes content from a handful of additional networks, as well as some exclusive shows like The Office. A free seven-day trial is available. The ad-supported Discovery+ plan costs $5 per month. The plan without commercials costs $7 per month.

Services With Puppy Bowl and Super Bowl: You can catch both through YouTube TV, which has over 85 channels. It typically costs $65 per month, but a two-week trial is free for new customers. At $70 per month for the ad-supported plan, Hulu + Live TV has fewer channels than YouTube TV, but it also includes Disney+ and ESPN+. It also has a free trial. Finally, Fubo TV has a $65 per month plan with about 115 channels, including the two you'll need to watch the respective events on Sunday, as well as a free seven-day trial. It's important to note here that Fubo recently started billing customers quarterly, instead of monthly.

How to Stream the Super Bowl

There are a couple of options for folks who just want to get to Rams vs. Bengals (or the halftime show). Aggravatingly, unlike the most recent CBS and Fox broadcasting years, NBC doesn't have a way to stream Super Bowl 2022 for free unless you have cable. There are a few workaround services for the cord-cutters, though, with free trials available to new users (or new accounts). Just remember to cancel any free trials to avoid future charges.

The services below offer on-demand programming and live TV channels via the internet. Most of them have a web livestream and work on Roku and more of the best streaming devices.

Stream It on NBC (With Cable)

The Super Bowl starts at 6:30 pm Eastern Sunday. Cable subscribers with a TV provider login can watch on the NBC channel, through the NBC app, via the NBC Sports app, and on the NBC Sports website. Supported operating systems and devices include iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, and more.

Stream It on Peacock (Without Cable)

Peacock Premium subscribers will be able to stream the game live. Peacock, an NBC-owned streaming service, has ad-supported Premium plans for $5 per month and ad-free Premium plans for $10 per month. (There's also a free tier, but it won't have the Super Bowl.)

Most devices are supported. Peacock also has live coverage of the Winter Olympics for Premium subscribers, so careful timing could let you watch both sporting events before your trial runs out.

Peacock does not offer a free trial of its Premium plan, but the Live TV services below do.

Stream It on a Live TV Service With a Free Trial

If you want another option, or you just don't want to pay to stream the game, there are a couple of online live TV services that have NBC and a free trial for new users. They're available on a wide variety of devices.

  • FuboTV costs $65, billed quarterly, after a free one-week trial (115+ channels)
  • Hulu + Live TV costs $70 after a free one-week trial (65+ channels)
  • YouTube TV costs $65 after a free two-week trial (85+ channels)
  • Sling TV costs $35 after a free three-day trial (40+ channels; Blue plans and select markets only)

Other Ways to Stream the Game

You can stream the Super Bowl on phones and tablets using the NFL and Yahoo Sports apps; the NFL app requires a subscription to a participating cable provider, while the Yahoo Sports app is free. Note that these don't natively support casting to TVs, so they may not be the best choice for hosting a watch party.

You may also be able to watch for free using an OTA antenna. Just check to see if you have NBC coverage in your area first.

Watch the Super Bowl Later, On Demand

The NFL GamePass will let you watch the game after it's over (possibly starting around midnight) at your convenience on most major devices. It also has a free trial. Just be sure to put your phone away and stay away from every screen and person you know until you watch the game.

You Can Also Listen to the Super Bowl

If moving pictures aren't your thing, or you're going to be out somewhere, you can listen to the Super Bowl live in a few ways: SiriusXM, NFL GamePass, TuneIn, and Westwood One radio stations.
