“Spy X Family” is a manga-turned-anime series that follows the story of a secret agent referred to as “Twilight.” Twilight—while in the service of fictional country Westalis—is tasked with building a fake family for cover purposes.

What Twilight—now assuming the identity of “Loid Forger”—doesn’t realize is that the woman he chooses to marry, Yor, is actually an assassin and their adopted child, Anya, is a mind-reader.

As put by Anime News Network: “…Anya’s powers mean that she’s the only person in the entire story who knows everything that’s going on. She not only uses her skills to get Loid to adopt her in the first place, but she also knows that he’s a spy—and when she overhears Yor thinking about her side-job as an assassin, she doesn’t exactly share that info with her new dad; mostly because she both knows he needs to find a (fake) wife, but also because the idea of a spy married to an assassin and both of them being her parents is unbearably awesome in her mind.

The anime tells the story of Agent Twilight, who puts together a family, including a fake wife, and fake adopted daughter, so he can infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t realize, though, is that his new lover is a highly-trained assassin, and his daughter is a young psychic. Each need a cover family, and with their precognitive dog, Bond, now a member of the clan, they have all the tools they need for success.
