Majima is crazy, deadly, and an eccentric acquaintance of Kiryu who's only concerned about fighting him at his full potential. Unfortunately, ten years in prison made Kiryu’s ultimate fighting style rusty and Majima’s there to help. As this task implies, Majima is literally everywhere, sometimes wearing crazy disguises from places where you least expect him. Defeating Majima in these occasions will unlock new abilities in Kiryu’s Dragon of Dojima ability wheel. This is the only way to get these abilities and as you continue to defeat him, his difficulty rank will increase as well, ensuring that you’ll be against a challenging version of Majima for your future fights.

There are no restrictions in winning the fights against him but there are certain requirements in triggering his appearance later on. You can continue fighting him as many times as allowed in particular chapter. You'll get a notification that says something like "you can no longer feel the connection with Majima" which means you have exhausted all available number of encounters against him in the particular chapter and you'll have to continue with the main story to encounter him again.

Where is Majima after he goes missing?

Rank G

Unlock: Dragon Kick Reborn

You can trigger this fight as early as Chapter 2 in Theater Square. The fight itself isn’t that hard especially if you use the nearby objects to your advantage. Majima is still no pushover though; he’s fast and can easily connect combos that can knock you down. As a staple tactic, always use heat actions whenever you can and fight conservatively by avoiding throwing unnecessary punches and leaving yourself open for Majima’s counterattacks. Majima will also become weakened after sustaining heavy damage so use that chance to land free hits and perform additional heat actions.

Rank F

As soon as you exit Bacchus at the beginning of Chapter 4, you will get a call from Nishida. He'll tell you to go to the front of the Millennium Tower as Majima is waiting for you, with a note to "not bring any weapons". Basically, you need to go to the Millennium Tower WITH a weapon. If you didn't buy a weapon in Chapter 3, you may obtain weapons by either exchanging CP with Bob (located at the entrance of Tenkaichi St., or at Don Quijote, located at Showa St., opening lockers with Coin Locker Keys, or simply accessing the Secret Weapons Shop as stated above. Once you have a weapon, head to the front of Millenium Tower to fight Majima.

Unlock: Mad Dog: Dagger

After this encounter, you can now continue engaging Majima from random encounters until you fill up the Rank F gauge. You need to defeat him from random encounters at least 4 more times in order to fill up the gauge. You'll learn the following skills during these gauge-filling encounters.

Unlock:

  • Body Hook Reborn
  • Charged Finisher
  • Dragon's Strength 1

Rank E Rank Up

Once you have it filled up, you'll now be able to trigger a Rank Up battle against Majima. You'll receive a message from Nishida that their boss is missing and you'll have to look for him. Look for a giant wobbling traffic cone in front of Smile Burger in Nakamichi Street and interact with it to flush out Majima from his hiding spot and trigger a battle. He's not that hard to beat as long as you use heat actions, environmental weapons, and finish him off with a Kiwami finisher.

Defeating him during this rank up battle will unlock the ever useful Majima Sensor. This will allow you to detect Majima (during random encounters only) if he's in the immediate vicinity and will appear as a special marker on the map. However, since he is also counted as a normal encounter, he will temporarily disappear from the map if whenever you enter a establishment, help a victim, or get yourself into another fight by the normal goons around town. If you want to fight him, avoid getting seen by obvious enemies or bumping them as you make your way towards Majima's position.

Rank E

You can also continue up to this rank in Chapter 4. Like before, continue defeating Majima to increase the rank gauge, including the equally hilarious encounter with Majima's hostess persona, Goromo.

Rank D Rank Up

Unlock: Essence of Mad Dog: Whirl

Once the rank up gauge has been filled, you'll get a message from Nishida about his boss reserving the Asia bikini club to celebrate Kiryu's release. Head there to trigger a short disturbing cutscene. After that, the rank up fight against him will start.

Where is Majima after he goes missing?

The area is small and you'll be up against an agile Breaker Majima. This form allows Majima to perform a continuous attack in the form of break-dancing or capoeira-sque moves that can easily corner you if you're not careful. Unfortunately, once his attack starts, it will be almost impossible to interrupt him so the only window you can start attacking is as soon as Majima stops this combo. The Rush style is highly recommended here since you'll be able to close the distance for a counterattack with your own fast moves and evade as needed. Other than that, the Kiwami finisher for the Rush style will become available after dealing enough damage to Majima. There are no objects that you can pick up here as a weapon so you can either use your own weapon. You can also switch to the Brawler style if you need to land some solid hits. Don't hesitate the heal up as needed.

Rank D Encounters

This rank can also be achieved in Chapter 4. Like before, continue defeating Majima to increase the rank gauge.

Rank C Rank Up

Unlock: Dragon's Heat Gauge

After filling up the Rank Up gauge by defeating Majima in different encounters, you'll get a frantic message from Nishida again. This time, he'll ask you to hurry up to Senryo Avenue. (Make sure to stock up a good amount of medicines for good measure) Head there and continue heading east to trigger a cutscene and encounter Zombie Majima.

Where is Majima after he goes missing?

After dealing enough damage, the first part of the battle will end and Kiryu will run to the alleys. Defeat all the zombies in this narrow area and Kiryu will continue running. Back in the streets, take out two more zombies and turn to the left to encounter Majima again. Use the same tactics against him earlier and deal enough damage to temporarily finish off Majima and force Kiryu to run in the alleys again. More zombies will be encountered along the way so take them out as well as you escape through the alley. Defeat the last set of zombies to finally face off the last instance of Majima. Use weapons to your advantage and perform heat actions whenever you can. When the opportunity comes that Majima is weakened, make sure to execute Kiwami finishers, even if you have to use Tauriners to restore your heat.

Rank B Rank Up

After filling up the encounter gauge by defeating him in previous encounters, you'll get a notification from Nishida at the start of Chapter 8. Head to the batting center to start the rank-up battle with Majima. At this point, you should already know how to deal with him and his different styles.

Rank A Rank Up

After filling up the encounter gauge by defeating him in previous encounters, you'll get a notification from Nishida that Majima is hanging around in Debolah. Head there and go to the dance floor where you can find Majima displaying his grooves. Approach him to trigger a fight.

At this point, Majima's health quickly regenerates when he's weakened so don't waste any time punching him when he's at that state and you don't have a filled Heat Gauge for a Kiwami Finisher. Use an recovery item to bring your heat up instantly and trigger a Rush Kiwami finisher to stop his recovery and deal additional damage.

At this point, you should already have learned the devastatingly powerful Tiger Drop counter from Komaki. It will be hard to defeat Majima from hereon with combos and attacks. You'll have to rely on counters to deal damage and stop his annoyingly fast combos. The Brawler style is great in this battle, especially if you have learned the good counterattack abilities on top of the Tiger Drop. The Dragon Style should also be effective at this point but you have to time your counterattacks right. Use these counters whenever you can to keep Majima at bay and stop his assault. Don't expect to full off full combos against him since most of the time, he'll efficiently evade you at the first swing then counterattack you with his own full set of combos that you can't almost stop.

Rank S Rank Up

After filling up the encounter gauge by defeating him in previous encounters, you'll get a notification from Nishida that you should take a taxi. You can take any cab from any point in town. However, before doing that, make sure to buy and equip the High-Tech Arm Guards from the Purgatory weapon dealer since it will make your life a lot easier in this battle.

You'll be taken in a separate location where you'll have to face Mad Dog Majima. His dagger attacks are quick and very damaging UNLESS you have the means to block these attacks completely and turn them to Heat instead. That's why you should have the High-Tech Arm Guards in this battle.

Where is Majima after he goes missing?

The Brawler Style is excellent for weak counterattacks and gaining heat while blocking. The Dragon of Dojima style also gains heat when you're blocking but it has a one-gauge cap unlike while in the Brawler style. The idea is cheaply win against this beast is of course Tiger Drop and the Essence of Sumo Slap heat action (Dragon only). Block his attacks to generate heat while you're in Brawler style, then keep distance and switch to dragon. The Essence of Sumo Slap is a special heat action that can be triggered from a medium distance, and can be used even if the opponent is down or charging towards you.

Block with Brawler to get heat, run away then use Essence of Sumo Slap - rinse, repeat. If you're comfortable with your timing with Tiger Drop, use it instead to end the battle quickly. Take note that Majima's weakened state can be exploited by a Dragon Kiwami finisher so make sure to use an item in case your heat gauge isn't sufficient at the time he's weakened. Don't let him recharge for long since his HP recovery at this point is annoyingly fast that it can easily fill up a bar if he's left recharging for a whole duration.

Rank SS Rank Up

After filling up the encounter gauge by defeating him in previous encounters, you'll get a notification from Nishida to meet up with Majima for a "final check". Head to West Park where Majima is hanging around and talk to him. Select that you're ready to fight for real to start this rank up battle.

Where is Majima after he goes missing?

Like before, you can't rely on landing successful combos. Majima will have openings like when he taunts you or if you successfully evade his dagger thrust. The High-Tech Arm Guards you used for the last rank up battle is still viable here; in fact, you can use the same cheap method of winning against him. (Block with Brawler to get heat, run away then use Essence of Sumo Slap - rinse, repeat.) He has an unblockable dagger slash attack so make sure to prepare to evade when he starts to perform spinning kicks. This can instantly drain your entire heat gauge so be careful not to get hit by it often.

Since he always evades during your first swing, you can use this to your advantage to bait him to evade and counterattack. As long as you didn't input any additional commands for a combo, you can hit him right after he counters. Don't let him recharge for long since his HP recovery at this point is annoyingly fast that it can easily fill up a bar if he's left recharging for a whole duration. Dragon of Dojima style is required to exploit his weakened state.

Rank SSS Rank Up

After filling up the encounter gauge by defeating him in previous encounters, you'll get a notification from Nishida that a man with a scary mask is hanging around in Purgatory. You already know what the deal is so make your preparations and head there.

If you already defeated Hannya-man in the Coliseum, then this battle will be quite easy for you. Tiger Drop is the key for winning this fight (and for serious, late-game fights as well) and fighting defensively. He can unleash nasty combos if he manages to counterattack you. You must fight defensively and keep a stance where you can counter with Tiger Drop or a perform a powerful surprise kick that can stop Hannya-man from his combo attempts. Like the high-rank instances of Majima you've faced before, he'll recover a lot of health when he's weakened so make sure you have heat-boosting items ready for use so you can perform a Brawler kiwami finisher. Hannya-man's attacks are quite predictable and easy to counter as long as you keep your stance. It will help evading his first strike then inputting the command for Tiger Drop immediately.

Where did Majima go?

Rank F. Majima will continue to roam the streets and if Kiryu successfully defeats him three times they will be able to encounter Goromi. After he is defeated, Majima will later hide inside a giant traffic cone. Finding and defeating him in battle will bring Majima Everywhere to the next rank.

Does Majima rejoin the Tojo Clan?

Afterwards, Majima Construction is founded, and several Majima Family members join the construction firm. In 2007, Kazuma Kiryu persuaded Majima to return to Tojo Clan. In its later years, the family is shown to be a considerable force, partly due to Majima's unpredictable attitude.
