The second verse of Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart (UMH #500) reads: I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies, No sudden rending of the veil of clay, No angel visitant, no opening skies; But take the dimness of my soul away. When in a dark hour, look for the light, it is where the spirit of the Lord is. When forced to be still, listen for the comforting voice of our heavenly Shepherd, He is calling. When we are isolated, remember we are never alone, the Spirit of the Lord is there with you. The fourth verse of Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart reads: Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh; Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear. To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh, Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.
