Where to watch Yellowstone season 6

Yellowstone's fifth season is on its way this November, but even as we await the new installment of Dutton drama, many fans are already wondering if there's another season in store. Here's what we know so far about what the future holds for the denizens of Montana's most dramatic ranch.

Will there be a season 6 of Yellowstone?

So far, there's been no word on any further seasons of the show, but that doesn't automatically mean the series is in trouble.

Paramount, the parent company of Paramount Network, on which Yellowstone airs, has historically played things close to the vest when it comes to renewals and release dates—they didn't confirm that Yellowstone season five was happening until over a month after the season four finale aired. That, combined with the fact that the series has continued to pull in big ratings, making it the top show across broadcast, cable, and premium networks for 2021, according to Deadline, and that the season four finale also reportedly pulled in more than 10 million viewers in January 2022, up 79% from the previous season, are very positive signs. Barring a major ratings drop in its fifth outing, the show looks poised to continue to garner big viewership numbers; always an attractive quality to networks.

Yellowstone is also the basis for a number of spin-off shows for Paramount's streaming service, Paramount+, which makes it seem all the more likely that they would want to keep the show running. As part of the show creator Taylor Sheridan's ever-growing slate of offerings, the writer has a new Yellowstone prequel, 1923, in the works for December 2022, along with additional episodes for the previous hit prequel 1883. Likewise, back in February 2021, it was announced that Sheridan was developing a spin-off under the working title 6666, set on Texas's historic 6666 ranch, though little additional information has been released on that project since then.

Adding to those comforting thoughts, in June, Kelly Reilly, who stars on the show as the deliciously cut-throat Beth Dutton, opened up to Vulture about season five, confiding, "People keep saying, 'Is it the end? It must be the end' It’s not the end."

That said, there are no guarantees about additional seasons of Yellowstone until an official renewal is announced, and rumors that one or more characters, including Kevin Costner's patriarch, John Dutton, could be killed off have remained forefront in the minds of fans. While Costner reassured Dutton watchers in regards to John's death ahead of season five, saying, "I don’t want to die… just too much to do," he also added, "I’ll say when I don’t want to do it anymore," which certainly leaves room for many possibilities.

It may be quite some time before we have any official word on the possibility of a sixth season of Yellowstone, but for now there certainly seems to be enough to keep fans hopeful.

We will update this post as new information becomes available.
