 Kakashi's ninken. Show Ninken (忍犬, English TV: Ninja Hounds, literally meaning: Ninja Dogs)[1] are essentially dogs that have heightened senses and abilities, and as such, are able to work and be summoned alongside shinobi. Although the dogs belonging to the members of the Inuzuka clan are ninken, the phrase is usually used in reference to the pack of eight ninken summoned by Kakashi Hatake. Kakashi's ninken have shown the ability to use human language, walk on water, develop combat strategies, and track down targets through their enhanced smell. They are supposed to be quite dangerous in combat, as Kakashi notes in the anime that they can tear their opponents apart on his command. He can summon them separately, as he commonly does so with Pakkun, or all together. He can also summon them for special purposes, like he does with his Summoning: Earth Release: Tracking Fang Technique. With this technique, the dogs can travel through the ground following the scent of their target, emerging when the target is found and holding them in place. They all have a face-shaped design on their backs called Henohenomoheji (へのへのもへじ) — which is the sound made when all the characters in the face are put together. Appropriately enough, children use this design as the face for their scarecrows, which is "kakashi" in Japanese. Kakashi's are summons who he made contracts with. They aren't normal dogs, they are closer to spirits. Kakashi at some point made a contract with them and they agreed to assist him upon being summoned. The Inuzuka clan bred normal dogs into warriors, like how we bred dogs to herd sheep or hunt. There isn't anything particularly supernatural about them other than a stronger than usual Chakra manipulation. It's unknown if they even have contracts with summons, so I guess they made their own equivalent or saw the companionship of raising dogs at birth being more powerful.

Pakkun wear forehead protector, so it means that him -and his co- had already konoha's ninjas, even though not in human division. It looks perfectly like Enma and Gai turtles. They might be extraordinary animal that have power -like the frogs- but, instead of living in the mountain, they'd rather to be konoha's ninjas and stay underground.

I was pretty sure it was stated in the manga that they are dogs that were personally trained by kakashi. the fact that he can summon them just means he made a blood pact with the dogs on a scroll like naruto's. This allows him to summon them for a little of his blood. where do they stay normally lol i have no idea as HB said dog mountain XD?

Probably their own little corner of the world. But as for the dogs, they're said to have been trained by Kakashi himself so who knows. They could even live with him and the Summoning Technique is just a faster way to reach them.
I'm mostly curious about Pakun and co since they have the leaf headband...... well they might live in the leaf village, or somewhere in the fire country. but since the frogs live at frog village, i would say the dogs like at dog village, and all other summons live in their own village.

In the Narutoverse, there exist certain animals that are different from the rest of their species. These animals can talk, use chakra and have human level intellegence. Dog summons are no different from frog summons, in that they seem to be a natural occurance. Just like Myobukuzan mtn, the dogs probably have a place of their own. As for the part about Kakashi training them, I think it is just talking about the dogs that he summons, meaning he could have grown up with
them just like how Naruto is growing up with Gamakichi. In the fututre, Gamakichi will probably be Naruto's main summon since they grew up together and trained with each other. Same with Kakashi and Pakun. Atleast, thats how I see it
